1. These people are going to make a fortune.
At this point I'd be willing to pay D.C. DUer's a hundred bucks a night to crash in their place (help pay for food, utilities used, etc.)

2. I'm staying in Baltimore for $400/night
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 04:14 PM by Bleachers7
It's a nicer hotel because my wife is coming. I would have stayed at the Econo Lodge if it was just me.

You can't get within 25 miles of Washington DC unless you're spending A LOT of money.

24. Do you have tickets to the inaugural ceremonies?
Everyone seems worried about getting a place to stay but do you know if you will be able to see the ceremony? I live in DC and want to go to the inauguration but don't you need tickets?

12. Don't rent it for the month 7 days at the bargain rate of $3500...you need to
start thinking like a capitalist.

7. It's going to be a day trip for me.
My son lives in NYC so I'll fly from CA to NY and then we'll take the train to DC early in the morning, then take it back that evening. It will be a long day but he doesn't know anyone in DC that we can stay with so this is the best plan we can come up with.

I think he'd better get train tickets ASAP.

8. Yup! I made reservations a month ago. I'm staying in McLean VA
They said the hotel has a shuttle that will take us to metro station. My uncle just decided he wanted to go. The hotel where I'm staying is booked. The other hotels require 3 nt minimum at ridiculous prices.

There is a commuter train in Frederick called MARC.
It will take you to Union Station in DC.

I remember being able to get them for the Clinton inauguration in 1997 but I cannot find info about this year's inauguration.

But we ended up not needing to show them to anyone anyway.

25. Hotels Still Available in DC and Virginia
Hotels are still available in D.C. and Arlington, VA. I
purchased my hotel through the Ukpe-Roberts Foundation,
www.ukpe-robertsfoundation.org. This Foundation was donated
over 100 hotels several months ago for the Presidential
Inauguration as part of their HIV/AIDS prevention and
awareness fund-raising campaign. Very professional. I've
referred all my friends and family to purchase their hotels
through this Foundation.

Down side is that all reservations are 5 days/ 5 nights. Plus
side, you can still get a hotel less than a mile from the
inauguration at a rate much less than the $800+ that D.C.
hotels were charging before they sold out. I think I paid
like $520/night for 5 nights. Another plus is that they have
suites that come with kitchenettes. My room has a bedroom
with a Queen bed, a living room area that has a pull-out bed,
and it comes with a kitchenette. Another plus is that
proceeds go to a good cause and not to someone's pocket book.
Last I checked they still had rooms.

Their phone number is: (877) 619-5936.

27. me too - I came very close to booking when reasonable a couple
months ago and chickened out. Then there were plenty of B&Bs - now none.

I think we will stay in the country at a B&B and drive in. There are plenty
within 40-50 miles.

Stupid me - had a conversation with the Hawaiian Ball host too - plenty of
tickets. I was thinking O would show up and the tickets were $200 - so I went
to buy ==100% sold out.
