3. Aw, look: someone gave her flowers!

It's refreshing to see her dressing down. She always looks fabulous, but I'm sure the heels get old after awhile. Nice to see her dressing like any other mom.

I hope they are able to keep their daughter's lives as normal as possible while living in the WH. It looks like they are very engaged parents, which can't be easy with their schedules.

8. Michelle wears flats all the time.

I saw her in an interview that said she mostly wears flats because of her height (5'11"). She even looks great dressed down-she carries herself well and has a natural elegance.

I knew she was tall but never really noticed her shoes. I just assumed she was wearing heels with all of those nice dresses. Is it too much to hope this turns into a trend? It seems right now all I can find are hooker shoes or ballerina flats.

6. I wouldn't want to be that teacher and have to tell that she

didn't turn in her homework. I'm sure the Obamas would have been great as would the kids but
having done parent teacher conferences that would be a conference that I would have
been nervous as hell.

Also as airline pilots. I've had several on trips. And how women and girls are now allowed to shine in sports. Always felt I was born 20 years too early. But I did what I could to help pave the way and face down some of the prejudice.

2. I love that he's usually got a phone around, always in touch, embracing technology.

34. I love the fact that Barack is checking his messages and reading

his papers and Michelle is schlepping the flowers and no one's bowing and scraping. The Secret Service folks are keeping them safe and the Obama's are just cruising along like normal folks. I don't guess they'll be able to maintain that as the weeks go by, but the fact that they haven't immediately started expecting the world to bow down to them make me happy.
