WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist dictatorship.

"It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may - may not, I hope not - but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."

Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.

"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."

Obama's comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado in which he called for expanding the nation's foreign service.

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said in July. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

The Obama transition team declined to comment on Broun's remarks. But spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama was referring in the speech to a proposal for a civilian reserve corps that could handle postwar reconstruction efforts such as rebuilding infrastructure - an idea endorsed by the Bush administration.

Broun said he believes Obama would move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national security force.

Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors "common sense" gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he'll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.

"We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential of going down that road."

Yes, yes it does.

I always wonder about people who don't know when to stop talking, even after their brain has told them to do so, in no uncertain words.

18. References To Hitler? How Is That Not Inciting Violence Against Obama?
With all those repeated references to Nazi Germany, and threatening gun owners that Obama will take away their guns, Rep. Broun might as well stand in front of a picture of Barack Obama with a big target on it. This is amazingly irresponsible rhetoric from an elected congressman.

19. Georgia has THE most non-transparent election system since Stalinist Russia.
GA has Diebold voting machines, run on 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, with NO audit/recount controls. No paper trail whatsoever. No verification even possible. Diebold former CEO was Bush-Cheney campaign chair and major fundraiser, who promised in writing to "deliver Ohio to Bush-Cheney in 2004." GA sec of state Cathy Cox did sales brochures for Diebold. Total meld of private corporate power with the most critical and sensitive of public systems: voting. Diebold also has a brethren corp, ES&S, which was funded by reclusive rightwing multibillionaire, Howard Ahmanson, who also gave one million dollars to the extremist 'christian' Chalcedon foundation, which touts the death penalty for homosexuals (among other things). (ES&S is a spinoff of Diebold.)

You don't like this cracker, Paul Broun? Look to the voting system!

--------

GA is where Rove/Chambliss called Max Cleland--a vet who left three limbs in Vietnam--a "friend of Osama bin Laden," and where Diebold reversed Cleland's large preelection lead in 2002, and fraudently elected Saxby Chambliss as U.S. Senator. (These fuckers did not want a paraplegic vet opposing the Iraq War in the Senate in the leadup to the invasion.) Currently, Democrat Jim Martin has mounted a strong challenge to fuckwad Chambliss, and they are now in a runoff election because GA cannot recount the votes. There is nothing TO recount. A runoff is triggered by a close race (within 0.05%), when Democratic turnout outvotes the machines and puts a candidate like Martin in that position. They can't recount it--so they run the program again.

It's possible that, with "the whole world watching," they'll let Martin win (as they did with Obama, nationwide). This will NOT make GA's vote counting system transparent. It will be merely be a coverup--a tactic to prevent a "Boston Tea Party" for the election theft machines, by enraged voters. Although Saxby has earned particular reward from the corpo/fascist scumbags who are running things, they may sacrifice him to keep the machines in place for future uses. (There is a similar situation with Norm Coleman in MN, the little fascist worm who got Diebolded and ES&S-ed into office after Paul Wellstone's plane fell out of the air in late 2002--and where Democrat Al Franken has challenged Coleman--also a very close race; however, MN has since introduced paper ballots--optiscan--so they are doing a recount not a runoff. Wellstone, a strong labor Democrat and presidential contender, had pledged to lead the fight in the Senate against the invasion of Iraq. Progressive MN then turned around and 'elected' this creep, Coleman? No way.)

These election theft machines are especially useful in tight races, but the fascist dragons of the right can use the power of 'TRADE SECRET' vote counting as a meat clever, to outright steal an election that is not even close (as with Cleland) or more subtly as a surgeon's knife, by selecting pro-war, pro-corporate Democratic candidates in a Democratic year (in the primaries--as in 06) and/or tweaking close elections (as in the prez election in 2004, and GA and MN Senate elections today). Fascist candidates, Rove and his ilk, and the corpo/fascist media write the narrative for pre-ordained results (for instance, this thing about Obama being Hitler--the beginning narrative for 2010 and 2012), and then the 'TRADE SECRET' programmers deliver the fraudulent votes that seem to confirm it (the people 'agree').

GA in particular couldn't have a more Stalinist voting system. ("It's not who votes that counts--it's who counts the votes." --attributed to Josef Stalin.) They don't need Hitler's "brownshirts" stuffing ballot boxes and beating up voters. They have Diebold and ES&S.

23. No, Broun, that's just what you supported when you thought
Boosh could be the Decider forever, now you're upset that the Repukes do not have a lock on power (because we are "at war") and that the powers you fought for the Decider to have are apparently going into Dem hands.

Now excuse us, we have some freepers that we have to turn into soap.
