A lot of you are being idiots. I think much of it is with good intention. But some just seem like sad people looking for something to whine about. THE PRESIDENT-ELECT HAS NOT SIGNED IN ONE LAW, ENACTED ONE EXECUTIVE ORDER, APPOINTED ONE CABINET MEMBER and you're already disillusioned. Well, BOO-fucking-HOO!

THis is the big leagues. You don't take over the LARGEST ECONOMY and MILITARY and arguably one of the best civil service sectors without help from a lot of people who know the halls of power and what to consider in plans to move forward.

Some of you people need to grow up in your hatred of all things "past".

8. Obama's daily briefing...
Rom Emanuel was giving Obama his daily briefing.
"Three Brazillian soldiers were killed in Afghanistan," he said.
"That's not good," Obama responded, "Send my official condolences to the Brazillian embassy."

Yeah, it just isn't the same.

that used to quote that left and right (back in 1986). So I was laughing when I saw it start to go into heavey rotation around Christmas on TBS or other channels in the past few years.

I'm like:" FUCK! That means I'm old now. They're playing it as a classic and I remember when it first came out."

9. "A lot of you are being idiots." If it doesn't matter, why these grandstanding posts?
Sometimes I wish people would shut up about certain things, but I keep it to myself because what the hell good is silence on a discussion board?

The media reports about the SoS appointment are multiplying, and there is still no real confirmation.

People can and will continue to discuss these, and voice their criticisms.

The reports are now being echoed in foreign papers. I even saw a propaganda piece.

16. I don't attack people for speculating
I personally don't think Hillary is a bad choice for Secretary of State. She is in a reliably safe Dem state. She isn't one with TONS of seniority like John Kerry or Charles Schumer so my normal problems with suggesting senators doesn't apply here.

My problem is with all these "righteous" people on DU who are proclaiming all these transition team appointments mean Obama has gone skull and bones on us and is joining a cabal of DLC, RINO, and Satan worshipers to undermine our country and take our babies. Same goes for their problems with him relaxing the policy of "NO LOBBYISTS WHATSOEVER WILL WORK FOR MY WHITE HOUSE". It seems reasonable that there are a lot of great Democratic veterans with very applicable skills who couldn't work in the executive for the past 8 years and turned to lobbying. It would be ridiculous for him to say no...you can't work for me. Instead, he's saying they have to give up their lobbying while they work for him.

All very above board and reasonable, pragmatic governing decisions.

Can we just give him a chance? I'm still hoping that he will be an amazing President.

If not - then we can become activists.

Let's first see what his plans are for January 21st before we jump all over his decisions.

Like NAFTA, like repeal of Glass-Steagall...
But never mind about Clinton. I worry about certain nominees being floated. People like Larry Summers, "abuse of power" is his middle name. And to even consider the idea of Bob Gates staying on? The guy who, among his many achievements, apparently counts the prolonging of the misery of the hostages at the US Embassy in Iran just to help oust Carter?

Forget Hillary. Do you think Larry "women's brains are inferior / Africa is underpolluted" Sanders is a good choice for the Treasury? Do you think a shill for Monsanto is a good pick for USDA?

But it's true we can all shut up now, since this is the way democracy works more or less everywhere in the world: once the elections are over, you don't really have a voice.

As the RW preemptive talking point: This is Obama's Depression. What is happening in the world economy right now is a direct response to Obama being elected POTUS.

All of it is hogwash, balderdash, bovine excrement...

It took BushCo nearly eight years to flush this economy and shred our Constitution. Anyone who thinks Obama can do anything about this sorry situation we're in before he takes office is a lunatic... as is anyone who thinks cabinet members come pre-packaged, ready to serve, piping hot from the microwave is equally saturated with moonbeams.

Give the man a fucking break already.

and 10's of mil's of post, other sites maybe more-so; DU is able to offer to interested parties a detailed sampling of (what is considered) Lib/Pro thought. For myself, I don't go to freerepublic, but some DUer's do and routinely, and they come back with links and text indicating moronic opinions and hand-wringing on the other side. It's easy to see the other side coming here for similar reasons. Strategists far above the fray on both sides are able to go wherever they please and identify all manner of wedge issues watching many of us tear each other apart. And that has a certain value I would think, if again to the apposition. Maybe even some of our people view such things with little humor, who can say for sure

59. I'm not saying people shouldn't express their opinions
just that they are Nucking Futz if they think preemptively attacking Obama for what he MIGHT do is productive use of their time.

Here's the thing. The GOP has decided to carry their "Concern Troll" schtick into Obama's presidency. It's UTTER BULLSHIT but that is the card they have and the one they will play.

Witness Rush and Hannity and OReilly saying they "just don't know this guy. they're scared what he's a gonna do to this great nation of ours."

They are preying on the constantly fearful in the hinterlands who will jump at any shadow.

I think people who constantly whine about how this or that pick by Obama means he might be a neocon or DLC or whatever the fuck plays right into that "Concern Troll" mentality of the right.
