Clark should run as a Republican challenger after the Primary
No wait! Don't flame me yet. He has the credentials, he's way WAY better than Bush and he would likely win the Presidency as a Republican.

After the primary, assuming Clark does not win it (and I'm not against him winning it), the Democratics put forth whoever wins the horse race and Bush would be attacked on two fronts. If that happened, we could not fail. We would have either President Dean, President Kucinich, President Clark or President One-Of-The-Other-6 - no way could Bush win under this scenario.

Let's say Dean wins over Clark in the Democratic primary. Clark is out of the running, or..... he stays in an Independent or a Republican. If he goes the Independent route, he might help to keep Bush in power. If he goes Republican alternative candidate, WE ALL WIN!

Would Clark do this for the country? I wonder.

1. You're making my head spin,
so I guess I'll just stick with the scenario of Clark winning the Dem nomination! :)

but I'll just add that if he did do what you propose, I'd suggest he have many, many bodyguards!

10. If he wins, I'll support him, of course
And I think he'll need body guards in either scenario. I also think he would be able to take care of the close combat stuff all on his own...

11. True, but if there were two credible challengers...
That's the question. And Clark isn't going to go away if he doesn't get the nomination. He's on record as not agreeing to a VP slot, so what would the scenario be? I think it's worth considering how he would be most advantageous to the country, and I think that would be to run as a Republican challenger. I think he would probably win too.

4. No need to, he's already sweeping the primary battlefield of it's
current front-runner Howard Dean and his supporters , based on their panic level of posts to this board today and yesterday...My battlefield analysis is that they are currently in full retreat.

I attribute their current situation to their initial overconfidence.

5. It will never happen!
Wes Clark would look like he had a huge ego if he even tried a party swap it would destry his credibility.

The only way Bush gets challenged is if McCain get a wild hair.

Now.. a McCain-Clark independent run would scare the Shit out of everyone.

8. Well, he has a lot of credibility on foreign policy but..
his credibilty on being a Democratic is his weakest area, IMHO.

If he ran as a Republican, he would have more credibility, not less. And he would likely win too.

6. Yeah sure
You just know Republicans are going to vote for a pro-choice, pro- affirmative action, anti-war, anti-patriot act, tax-raising-on-rich-people, Clinton-voting, Gore-voting, environment-loving, FoxNews-asskicking, liberal.

Yup that's going to happen fer sure.. what ARE you smokin'?

9. Really?
Dean is more conservative than Clark?

I want some of what you're smoking. Here we are talking about two of the top Democratic contenders, arguing about which one is the most conservative? Heh. There's something ironic about that, but I'm not sure what it is. I'll get back to you on it :)

14. Dean is more conservative than Clark
Dean has that perfect NRA score and would allow automatic weapons
Clark is against the sale of automatic weapons

Dean would not cut the military budget
Clark would

Dean has expressed personal discomfort with gays
Clark championed gays right to serve long before he ran - no discomfort

There's probably other examples too, I'll leave that to others to point out, I have to finish dinner.

12. Bad Idea - Why would Republicans vote for him after he's done so
well in the Dem primary? No. Nobody would do this and certainly not the General.

16. Why not Bush running as VP under Dean? (HUMOR ALERT!)
No wait! Don't flame me yet. Dean has the credentials, he's WAY better than Bush and he would likely win the Presidency as a Democrat.

Seeing as Dean is a surefire winner of the Dem nomination, wouldn't that be Bush's only shot at returning in the WH after the elections...? Dean wins, everybody happy...

if the republicans supported pro-choice, pro-gay, pro-campaign finance reform, pro-affirmative action, pro-progressive taxation liberals like Clark, then we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today.
