2/3 of Americans approve of Obama selecting Hillary as SOS (new ABC poll)
Edited on Tue Nov-25-08 01:07 AM by agent007
And imagine what the support is among Democrats alone. It must roam the 90% mark.

28% disapprove overall.

Obama's transition in general is seen with very good eyes as well:

5. STOP POSTING LIES! This can't be true. It just isn't. I don't believe and you can't make me. Nope,
no way, now how. This poll is highly suspect. It must have been rigged by Clintonites. It is too hard to swallow (speaking of, did you hear the joke about Monica...). I'm sending a letter to ABC to call bullshit on this fabricated poll and I will report them to the FCC or the FBI. It just boggles the mind. I'm sitting here, dumbfounded, staring at my keyboard trying to make sense of it all...Nope, it still doesn't make any damn sense to me. There must be something wrong with the methodology. I'm sending the link to the CIA to have them analyze the results. You will curse the day that you posted this Clintonite propaganda on DU! And you will be VERY embarrassed when the expose is published in the Washington Times!!!

I just don't see how you can say they're the worst when they're the only network to give liberals even a voice (Maddow, Olbermann). I don't care if Obama gets attacked as long as it is for legitimate reasons.

If the next most recent poll is an indicator:

Gallup found that 57% of Americans and 79% of Democrats approved of the selection on the 18th of NOvember:

of the right for years now. They love her, just go to their internet sites and feel the love for her,the beautiful photo shops they do of her, the cute little nicknames they've given her,the adorable little conspiracy theories they've attached to her. She's a goddess to them! The contortions some here will go through to explain away her popularity is bizarre.

This from the largest political magazine in the nation, as early as October, 2006

These are several big-name pundits predicting in early 2007 that Obama would eventually catch up with Hillary:

March of 2007:

MATTHEWS (3/4/07): OK, let me go around the room. Will he, meaning Obama, catch Hillary by Memorial Day in the polls?

KATHLEEN PARKER: I think so. He's going to move fast.

MATTHEWS: David , Democratic primaries—Democratic vote. Will he catch her in that poll, the next poll we take on Memorial Day?

GREGORY: Yeah.

ELISABETH BUMILLER: I think so.

CLARENCE PAGE: So many variables, but they—within shouting distance.

43. Yeah, but that happened only three weeks after this poll was released...
...whereas support for the war, as well as GWB's popularity, peaked about 5 years ago.

I was an Obama supporter since Iowa, but I honestly feel that the vast majority of Barack's GE voters think Hillary will be a good SOS pick--numbers like these can't be spun so easily. It reinforces what I personally see outside the message boards, as well. Both she and Obama came out of the primaries more popular than they were before.

Edited on Wed Nov-26-08 10:01 PM by ProSense
from 2006:

Laura Bush Approval Ratings Among Best for First Ladies

PRINCETON, NJ -- While her husband George W. Bush struggles to improve his low job approval ratings, Laura Bush remains a very popular first lady. Her current job approval ratings are among the most positive ratings Gallup has recorded for a first lady. But her high level of popularity may not translate into political support should she seek public office. Most Americans say they would not like to see her run for the U.S. Senate.

A Jan. 20-22 CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll finds 82% of Americans approving and just 13% disapproving of the job Laura Bush is doing as first lady. Last year, she had a similar 85% rating, and she had a solid 74% rating in July 2003 when she was first rated.

Gallup has asked the public to evaluate most of the first ladies at least one time during their tenures in the White House. In general, Americans give positive marks to first ladies, but Laura Bush's scores are among the best Gallup has measured.

For example, Hillary Rodham Clinton averaged a 64% approval rating while she was first lady, ranging from a low of 54% in January 1995, to a high of 80% in February 1999.

Laura Bush's Approval rating August 2008: 62%

Hillary's approval rating: September 2008: 51%

Polling for the SoS is ridiculous.
