MediaTakeOut.com: Michelle Obama considering having another baby?!
Edited on Sat Nov-29-08 04:34 AM by BluegrassDem
MediaTakeOut, for those who don't know, is the most famous black site on the web. They do have a mixed record as far as scoops and "exclusive reports," but it's not totally off the wall, so I figured I'd post it.

http://www.mediatakeout.com/2008/28588-explosive_report_michelle_obama_seriously_considering_having_another_child.html

Here's an excerpt from the report:

"The truth is, after Malia was born, both Michelle and Barack were hoping to give her a little brother," said the friend. "But when they found out Michelle was going to deliver another girl, all that mattered to them was that Sasha would be healthy." ....

Although the couple had for years put thoughts of another child o the back burner, after Barack's election win on Nov. 4, Michelle realized that anything is possible, says the friend.

Her friends in Chicago have been encouraging her to go for it, but she hasn't come to any conclusion because - as she says - her life has already turned 'upside down.'""

1. I wish she would.. It would sure put the "what's she going to DO?" nonsense
Edited on Sat Nov-29-08 04:40 AM by SoCalDem
on the back burner, and it would be wonderful historically too.. to have a child born to a half-black president, serving & living in a house built by slaves..

They can surely afford to have another child, and there would be plenty of help :)

If they want to.. I say GO FOR IT !!..time's awasting, since she's past 40..

3. Predicting the right wing take
Limbaugh: "Now listen up folks cuz this is important. So the Obamas are "with child" as they say and now we have the specter of, well should I say this..let me say it this way.. the specter of a baby unlike any other born in the White House.

Now as we all know the "DISTRICT" of Columbia is not a State, nor is it a part of any other State. They don't get to have a Senator, hell they don't even get a "REAL" member of the House.

Now I know the knee jerk liberal media will take this all out of context and I'll be crucified on MSNBC for this but it must be asked, and that is all I am doing here folks, just asking a question.

Will the alleged Obama baby...oh did I say alleged???..let me go back...will the Obama baby really be a citizen?

You heard it hear first folks, if the Obamas have another baby something like this will vomit from Limbaugh's mouth

Of all the couples who would be obsessed with having a son, they are the least likely, imho.

Michelle Obama is a high-powered career woman whose existing children are 10 and 7. She's had plenty of time to have another, and she's apparently chosen not to.

"Jackie Kennedy was only 31 years old when she became First Lady... She attended Vassar and the Sorbonne but received her degree from George Washington University... She and John Kennedy had two children, Caroline (b. 1957) and John Jr. (b. 1960); a third child, Patrick, was born on 7 August 1963, but died two days later. Patrick remains the most recent child to be born to a First Lady while her husband was president."

19. If this story is true (and that's a BIG "if"), she'd have to get a donor egg because of her age.
After the age of 42 or so, a woman is functionally infertile. I kinda doubt they'll go that route. Better to adopt and set a good example.

Even 50-year-olds can have children these days using their own eggs ~ though I wouldn't risk it.

24. That's a very very rare (1 out of a 100) natural occurrence the Obamas can't bank on
Most fertility clinics won't do IVF after the age of 42, although I'm sure they'd bend the rules for Michelle.
But the chances are still very low for a woman of 45 (1 out of 5). Besides, Michelle has already said more
than once (the last time to Colbert) that she didn't want anymore kids.

25. The woman I know did it naturally, her own eggs, no medical intervention...
Lots of women can get pregnant naturally in their 40s.

If they wanted one, the Obamas could try the old fashioned way ~ but I thought too that she has said their family is complete.

Edited on Sat Nov-29-08 12:36 PM by lizzy
Women don't become infertile after the age of 42.
Sarah Palin certainly had her offspring later than that. Of course the probability of the child having Down syndrome goes up with age of the mother.

37. That is not the case........expecially when we are not talking about a first child......
My MIL had by hubby when she was 47 (he was her third child), and then she had two more children after him. So 44 is actually not "old"....and it depends on the individual, but certainly it is not out of the question.

Some of these women do use donor eggs, but a good many of them don't.

I know of two personally who had their healthy daughters at 43 and 44 without assistance. My Ob/Gyn had their last at 42, as did my grandmother.

The funniest story I saw on that site was of a woman who thought she was going through menopause and it turned out she was pregnant

The sperm's role plays a part in the fertility equation, too. If there is poor motility, the quality of sperm is not good, or if the sperm count is low, the most fertile woman in the world (regardless of age) is going to have a tough time conceiving.

50. Women over the age of 40 can and do become pregnant with their own eggs.
Some women who think they are entering menopause find out they are pregnant instead. That's where the term "change of life baby" comes from.

56. My former MIL gave birth to her sons well after 40; my grandma's last child same thing...
Their intelligence is fine; in fact my uncle, though born prematurely, ended up as a university professor of European history.

It happens. Sometimes it's what's most devoutly desired (like my MIL, who married late) and sometimes it's Mother Nature's little joke (like my grandma, who already had 5 kids over a 20+ year span).

Women have to be ever-vigilant until after menopause if they don't want more kids. But women who want a family shouldn't put it off forever, either, because 40 really is the trailing edge of the Bell curve of fertility.

Hekate
past all that now, thanks
