Poll question: Has your opinion of President-Elect Obama been enhanced or diminished by his cabinet choices. |
|
And for the sake of this argument, assume he has picked HRC for SoS.

4. I am extremely optimistic. |
|
And it's not because of Hillary's apparent appointment. I just feel very good about this new administration now.

17. I have a cat. Like all cats, he is curious, wary, and patient. Right |
|
now, that is my mood. What I am wary about is "Gates," "Surge in Afghanistan," and "16 months in Iraq." But I'll be patient. Actually I have no choice but to be patient. Later, however, I may complain. That also will be my choice.

5. I have gone from cautiously hopeful |
|
to gratefully ecstatic on election day to wildly optimistic today, 51 days from the inauguration.
Not kidding. I think we are very fortunate to have him as our President Elect. And no, he wasn't even my 4th choice in the primaries.

14. Mine has not changed, but I've had my doubts all along. |
|
The doubts don't have to do with President Obama as much as they have to do with exactly how all of this crossover stuff is going to work out given the comparative advantages of the status-quo-crossoverers.

16. As the president elect has said, |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-29-08 06:16 PM by polmaven
Change will come from the top down.
The Cabinet will advise, give their opinions and perhaps even cajole a little, but in the end, the policies implemented will be his policies.
I have seen nothing so far to even indicate that it will be anyone but President Obama who will be making the final decisions. I have seen nothing to indicate he will not be fully in control.
My opinion of him is not changed, one way of another. I will trust his judgment until he gives me reasons not to.

18. I like what he is saying and doing but do not always like whom he is choosing for what |
|
Clinton is the biggest problem for me even though I had her tied with Obama. I would much prefer her as VP. Biden would be a better SOS but if Obama wants to see me go estatic, then I have two words for him - "Wes Clark" .

21. I've haven't been worried so far |
|
Although he hasn't made some of the choices I would've made it's ultimately his prerogative who he decides to choose for his cabinet and I expect, based on the quality of the campaign he has ran, as well as his overall demeanor and obvious intelligence, that he and his team knows what he is doing and is making what he feels are the right choices.
The way some people are talking about Obama here it's almost as though Obama has suddenly shed his idealistic "skin" and has revealed himself as nothing more than just "Clinton: The Sequel", another "corporatist" empty suit, and/or Neocon who is beholden to entrenched Washington masters and we've all basically been fooled. :eyes:
I mean, do people really think that Obama has changed THAT drastically since the election? Have we all just been duped????? I think not!

While I do have some concerns about some of his picks, he has not taken office yet. I believe that he is entitled the right to do his job and run the country before any judgements can be passed. Obama is a very intelligent and thoughtful man and I believe that many of his choices were made carefully. Give him a chance to do the job he was elected to do.

give the dude a chance to work, for fucks sake.
This is how I look at it; it's like remodeling a room in your home, you are not sure how the room is going to look until it is all done. So, right now, this is still the tearing out phase of the remodel, which is always rough.
