Hillary passed on Appropriations chair to become Obama's Secretary of State
From the Daily Snooze, an occasionally reliable NY paper:

WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton passed on becoming boss of the mega-powerful Senate Appropriations Committee to pursue the more prestigious secretary of state job with President-elect Barack Obama, the Daily News has learned.

As chairwoman of the panel that controls the nation's purse strings, Clinton could have pumped billions in federal dollars into the Empire State.

Instead, as Obama continues to piece together his cabinet, Clinton is poised to become the third female secretary of state, following Madeleine Albright and Condoleezza Rice.

The Senate slot was offered as a consolation prize after her bruising White House race and snub from Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.), who refused to let the former First Lady join his health care task force.

"Kennedy wasn't happy about how some things were handled in the campaign, but it was really a seniority issue. Hillary didn't have the seniority" to shepherd health care through the Senate, said a source familiar with the matter.

"Kennedy knew it and Harry Reid knew it," the source added...

15. It's pretty simple
First off, Clinton lied about her foreign policy experience (Tuzla for example) during the primaries...why is that suddenly being conveniently forgotten?

Secondly, if I didn't want Hillary to be our nominee....why would I want her to be the face of the new Obama Administration?

Hillary Clinton as SoS is a major mistake and those that were against her during the primaries but now kiss her ass are hypocrites.

17. I was "against" Joe Biden and Bill Richardson as well as HRC during the primaries
Or, to put in another way, I was in favor of Obama. So is everyone who supported Obama but concluded that Biden was a good VP pick a "hypocrite"? Am I a hypocrite for supporting a cabinet post for Richardson?

Or when you say you were "against" HRC, you mean that you'd have not voted for the Democratic ticket if she was the nominee?

In addition, Appropriation is a lot more powerful than SoS.

If she was in a position of being at an important position in the Senate, she would not go with SoS.

8. utter bullshit
As I posted on another thread on this same topic:

The story that Clinton would've been offered approps is absurd, if you ask me. It has been well-settled for some time that if Byrd stepped down, the chairmanship would go to Inouye, who not only has over 40 years of seniority, but also has been serving on approps. To think that a junior senator who never served on the approps committee would leapfrog into the chairmanship is far fetched, given the way the Senate works. If you think that the same caucus that wouldn't strip Lieberman of his committee chair would force Inouye to take a backseat to Clinton, I have a bridge to nowhere I'd like to sell you.

13. This is a downright lie. Ever heard of seniority? They wouldn't have offered her this
I really doubt that crap is true. Why of why does the MSM continue to spread crap from so-called sources? I'm not even a big Hillary supporter and its annoying to me.
