1. well, it wouldnt be all the much of a saga if we didn't continue to have threads like this one
here's what it looks like to me:

3 threads not liking clinton
33 threads complaining about the threads not liking clinton
333 threads complaining about the Clinton uproar.

its a reverse pyramid!!

3. Clinton isnt the important story of Obama's cabinet
(Sorry Hillary fans!)

The important story is in Obama bringing back the most of the same Clinton economic team that was responsible for the deregulations that created most of our current economic crisis.

5. I agree! Let's label Obama's administration a failure before he even takes office. How can he call
this change?

23. His National Security Advisor said at the time he didn't think it was a good idea.

And I seriously doubt that Gates at Defense supported it. He was a university president at the time, so I can not find any statements by him at the time concerning the Occupation. But he advocated direct negotiations with Iran long before this. He was on the 2006 Iraq Study Group that recommended we either get Syria and Iran involved in Iraq, or we get out sooner rather than later. He told the Senate during his confirmation hearings he did not think we were "winning" the Occupation. And he has been highly critical of the manner in which the Occupation was launched.

Unless you can provide a link quoting the man himself indicating the invasion was a good idea, I have no choice but to conclude he likely thought it was a damned stupid idea.

9. No, that's not correct
I find it humorous and yet disturbing that the Clinton administration is being blamed for the economic troubles today, especially on a Democratic message board.

The economic crisis today is primarily a result of poor monetary policy by the Fed, in which interest rates were set too low and credit became very cheap. This, happening over a period of several years, gave people essentially "fake" money with which to purchase homes (remember the housing boom?). All credit, of course, must be substantiated at some point. Perhaps there are some things President Clinton could have done to protect against this, but it was primarily a banking failure, not a failure of the federal government, and to assign him "most" of the blame is just ridiculous.
