This Fear Of A Filibuster Is Just Idle Main Stream Media Chatter
Fifty seven or fifty eight seats is more than enough to pass President Obama's legislative agenda...The Republicans don't have the, fill in the blank with whatever politically correct noun to oppose popular legislation and if they do it will only be there to that detriment.

Color me not shocked that Saxby Chambliss kept a red state red in a low turnout election.

1. I agree.
Though I think it is something the DLC and the Dems want.

When the repukes had control of everything, everything went to shit. They gave their power away to the executive, they passed out bribes on the floor of the House and Senate, they did whatever the bush wanted and ignored, law, the Constitution and the will of We the People.

What's to say the Dems wont do the exact same thing?

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

2. I guess we will have to see if that is true or not.
They certainly had no problem routinely blocking legislation over the last two years. The Republican Party Senate Caucus is disciplined and rarely breaks ranks. They have perhaps two 'moderate' members, Snowe and Collins, and sometimes Specter votes his own mind. Other than that finding a vote for our side there is going to be difficult.

On the other hand, we have our fabulous Blue Dogs, and they regularly cross the line and vote with the Republicans, plus we have that fucking asshole Lieberman.

3. Let Them Oppose Popular Legislation
Obama, like Regan, can just go over their heads to appeal to the American people... To paraphrase Grover Norquist "I want to make the Republicant party so small you can fit it in a bathtub."

5. The media beat that drum to make it seem like the Dems didn't win as big as they did.
The media can't stand a Dem landslide everywhere so they had to make it seem that the Dems didn't win as big as they really did.

6. If the Pukes try to be obstructionist they will be totally crushed in 2010 and 2012.
We'll be given a super-majority like that of the "Great 89th" Congress of 1965.

7. No it isn't
In the session that just past there were a record number of cloture votes by the GOP that blocked a signifigant amount of legislation. This could be a problem for President Obama on key issues that need to be approved by Congress.
