MN-Gov: Statewide Recruitment Thread

Tim Pawlenty may or may not run for a glorious third term as the top dog in Minnesota. Who would you like to see run against him (or against his successor)?

1. I will probably end up going for Mark Dayton...

The candidates I know of that are planning to run are Dayton, Tim Walz, and Susan Gaertner. Walz would be a good governor, but he is also a Democratic candidate that wins by huge margins in a district which was red not long ago. If he left that seat I would worry about a Republican pickup.

Gaertner is the candidate I will do everything in my power to stop from getting the nomination. She is the prosecutor in the RNC 8 case, which for those who don't know is a case involving eight people who were intending on protesting the RNC but were arrested and charged with terrorism. Yes she wants to charge protesters who did not do anything wrong with terrorism. I will not vote for her even if she does get the nomination because she is violating the very essence of the Constitution and we need to keep her out of the Governor's mansion at all costs.

Mark Dayton is pretty progressive on most issues. I did not like his remarks on election fraud in Ohio one bit, but I think it was a misguided comment from someone who did not want to believe just how messed up that election was. I can forgive him for that because most of the rest of his record was pretty decent. There is a family who I am friends with that were working on legislation for the Department of Peace and he invited their teenage daughter to his office to explain the bill to him and then he later introduced it in the senate. He really made that whole family feel like they could make a difference, and they have been making a difference. Of the three candidates I know about he would be the best choice without a doubt.
