I seem to remember that Caroline Kennedy
is very shy. She has mentioned that she doesn't like to speak in front of crowds. I heard her in a television interview when she first began campaigning for Obama say as much. I don't rmember the exact program or date, but the comment was meant to convey that she would overcome her shyness because she believed in Barack so much.

She is not a natural public speaker and seems uncomfortable on the stump. None of this is particularly significant, except that I think it reveals HER feelings. I don't think she wants to run. I don't think she wants to give up her private life.

Of course I could be wrong, but are we really sure that she wants the job? I know it's shocking, but sometimes these rumors aren't true. DU could be wasting a lot of energy debating over a non issue.

Didnt want to be left out ....

BTW: Caroline had a wonderful speech at the convention, and while she is 'shy', that shyness is a product of the consequences of her celebrity, and not because she is 'fearful' in front of other people ...

She is an outstanding human being, and I do find it hilarious how the DU Qwerty Pundit Society can cast aspersions down onto her from their mighty perches .... Er; I mean; from their dirty living rooms ....

5. SCOTUS would be better
She is a cerebral person and her personality would be better for the Supreme Court. Also - I would trust her with interpreting the Constitution.

10. She isn't qualified for SCOTUS either
You should have some experience- Warren wasn't a judge, but he had been Governor. If Caroline Kennedy wants to do those things, she should get some experience a little lower down- you have to pay some dues. She shouldn't be handed senate or SCOTUS because of her last name. No one without a famous last name and her level of experience would be considered for those jobs. I'm sure she's a nice and capable person, but let's not get carried away here.

I think the Obama campaign opened her up a lot.

11. How do you know she won't just be a placeholder until 2010?
Even if she doesn't want to run for the job, that seat needs to be occupied until January 2011.

15. Isn't it possible that Patterson is just asking her advice?
Was it confirmed that she was being offered the Senate seat, or just that she was meeting with the governor? She was on Obama's VP selection committee. Perhaps she was just being asked for her recommendation as to who to appoint.

and it wasn't a gigantic crowd...but she did a fine job in Bethlehem, PA when I saw her.

What I find ridiculous is people on here that seem to want to malign her for no good reason.

18. She is a Kennedy. She is a legacy,
And, she is a crashing bore.

She has published a few books about poetry.

She, like her mother, can barely speak in coherent sentences.

I've heard her a number of times speak about legal issues. I don't find intelligent discussion of constitutional questions boring. Maybe you do.

21. What legal issues? What is her stance on choice?
Enlighten us.

What is her stance on torture?

What is her stance on medicinal marijuana?

What is her stance on immigration?

What is her stance on the bail-out of the automakers?

So its not a rumor, she initiated it.
