"They're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them."
That sentence means:

Case closed. Obama and his people cannot be bought.

From Fitzgerald's affidavit:

Later in the conversation, ROD BLAGOJEVICH said he knows that the President-elect wants Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them."

8. I don't believe anything on FACE VALUE. Especially those who are IN or "about to be IN Power"
Something is just not right with this entire scenario. Unfortunately, before people THINK TWICE, it will be too late to counter "the fairy tale."

29. She'll well known for her paranoid partially-sensible preachy rants.
Edited on Tue Dec-09-08 11:41 PM by Odin2005
She's one of those self-labeled "Progressive" DUers with chips in their shoulders. Every time I got into a discussion with her and disagreed with her she started questioning my motives and insinuated I was a "corporatist suck-up" or some such nonsense. I think she has emotional stability issues.

This situation doesn't add up. NOTHING is THAT SIMPLE.

I don't know exactly what is WRONG but we are being duped in some way.

Again, NOTHING is this neat.

Every Democrat in the state who wasn't bought off by him is celebrating. I've already been invited to three celebration parties.

But I'm sure you know much more about how the people of Illinois feel and the Illinois Governor from your perch in Virginia. Get a clue already. Did you used to work for the guy?

Not worth your posts trying to fight that one. He/She will just assume your opinion for you.

And yes, I've noticed that even folks from Illinois NOT DUers feel the same way about Illinois DUers - they can't stand this guy.

6. Some people aren't that little, though. Take Bill Russell, for example.
He was really kinda tall.

Same for Wilt Chamberlain.

See? Not everyone's little.

in TODAY's Corporate States of America.

The late George Carlin was spot on.

It's a BIG CLUB, and we "little people" are not part of it.

Voting is just to give the people "an illusion" that there still exists an democratic republic instead of a corporatocracy.

We DESERVE these "corporations rule" assholes for legislators if we are not able to get beyond the "cult of personality."

16. Well, where's the cut-off?
Would it not be possible to be duped at well under your arbitrary cut-off, or does the specific income bracket determine all?

The mom in AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS was a crook outright and believe me, she made WELL under your cut-off limit.

Inquiring minds want to know.

19. You know EXACTLY what I'm saying but refuse to process this information.
If you don't have MILLIONS, you are not a player.

You don't want to LOOK because it would break your heart. You'd rather go back "to sleep" and live "in denial"

You and I are NOT in the BIG CLUB. However, if you are blessed to own "a cushion" ($500,000 or so), you won't suffer during the imminent depression.

20. Well, St. Francis didn't make much money. He ran around in a plain
brown robe with a modest belt.

Maybe some halfway decent shoes.

He was a player.

How about Woody Guthrie? He was a player.

A Ms. Parks, of quite modest income, refused to remove herself at the request of idiot bigots insisting that she do so on racial grounds. Ms. Parks indicated to the men that she was fine where she was. I'd definitely say she was a player.

32. If you're in the market for a novel, try one by Joan Didion.
That woman gets it done.

Terrific stuff. BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER, or DEMOCRACY, or any of the others. But especially those two.

Read 'em or die in the attempt.

4. It is so unfortunate ...
We spend years railing against the disgusting bald-faced corruption by the BFEE, who pilfer the nation's coffers for tens of billions of dollars at a shot .... Then a Democratic congressman and Governor kick out the chair beneath us, leaving us dangling in the breeze .... all for a pittance in filthy lucre ....

It feels like when Clinton couldn't keep his peter in his pants, and shamed all of us ...

Blago should go way down for this .... FUCK him ....

10. Hi, Trajan. I am not in Illinois but spend considerable time in Chicago
hanging out with a Democrat or two.

After this morning's announcement of Blago's arrest, the sigh of relief among the Dems who are my pals was palpable.

I felt it hundreds of miles away.
