Not sure I'm going to get my point across well here, but it seems to me that the American public both accepts corruption (when it's able to be kept under tight wraps) and abhors it (when someone gets lazy about it, like Blago) at the same time.

When someone does something as ridiculous as this- selling a Senate seat for cash- people get all up in arms about it. They're "shocked" and "amazed" at the gall.

But then in the very next sentence- oh, you're looking for a job? Well, you know it's all about connections. All about the people you know. Oh, and you know how politicians work, constantly scratching each others' backs.

So... which is it? Is this quid pro quo, favors for favors stuff something that we accept, or not?

2. But when it's not something as far out as this people talk about it like it's just
the way things are- as if they accept it.

3. Listen, Bull...even here at DU many Dems prefer the anti-corruption lawmakers sit down, shut up, and

go away. They have bought into the notion that ALL presidents protect each other and that somehow it is for the good of the nation to move past any idea of accountability for the TRULY POWERFUL ELITE. And, Gov of Illinois is nowhere even NEAR that level of elitism, though he obviously aspired to be there.

There isn't any Dem who takes more hits or is marginalized more often by the powerful than those who seek open government that is accountable to the people - and I mean Dems in office and at Dem internet forums.
