Would anybody here be offended if James Earl Carter offered the invocation instead of Rick Warren? |

1. It would have been a 1000% better idea |
|
But now that Warren has been invited its pretty hard to take it back.

4. only in that I'm offended that there IS an invocation |
|
I know...I'll probably take heat for saying it - but the religious stuff has NO PLACE in government. Period. Including in the presidential inauguration.

5. At this point, yeah. Rick Warren is now my favorite pick. |
|
I support Obama for the reasons he's given.

6. What did Carter ever do for gay marriage when he was president? |
|
C'mon, get real.
Carter was president and did not lift a finger to advance gay marriage, relevant military policy, etc.
Having Carter there would send the message "this administration isn't going to do those things either."
