Obama has perceived as an opportunity a truce offered by Warren |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 06:22 AM by In_Transit
two years ago. He (Obama) knew he would have some collateral loss which would hopefully be temporary, but he is building allies to accomplish the nearly impossible task that lay before him. Obama and Warren are both leaders enough to agree to disagree while maintaining their civility. In the process Obama has enough wisdom to gain the confidence and alliance of Warren and in the process checkmate zealot simpleton hate mongers like James Dobson and Pat Roberson. Obama is showing leadership qualities and wisdom way beyond his years.

1. Edit: The OP edited out the word "crybabies" |

I wonder why the OP would have included it in the first place?

6. Just another rationalization. |
|
Sure, we'll call honoring a bigoted hate monger some kind of strategy. That will make me feel better.

as a willingness by Obama to turn a blind eye to Warren's and his ilk's hate mongering and trampling on a minority's rights.
FDR did the same thing in order to win over the Southern Senators and get his new deal passed. He willingly turned a blind eye to lynchings, KKK cross burnings and Jim Crow laws in the South. It was the price he was willing to pay for success of his badly needed economic recovery. FDR got his new deal on the backs of Black Americans. Will Obama get his new deal on the backs of GLBT Americans?

9. How many votes does Obama have to have to enact |
|
whatever he needs to fix the economy.
Who will oppose him? (There will be some, but how many?)
I don't think he needs to do ANYTHING to pass his agenda.
Least of all make a deal with Rick Warren. And it's highly doubtful that Warren could deliver him any votes that he needs anyway.

11. Yep although the term... |
|
... "collateral loss" is not the one I would have used.
But yeah. You've got it!

Such a lovely phrase, so clean and antiseptic, like when "search and destroy missions" were renamed "sweep and clear."
