Link to watch the MN Senate recount live
Franken should take the lead this morning. You can watch it live at http://theuptake.org/ starting at 9 AM Central.

It is fascinating to watch. The running commentary is great.

It is more like watching baseball. Hours of boredom punctuated with seconds of excitement.

3. Today will be huge
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 08:00 AM by Hokie
For the first time Franken will be ahead at the end of the day. It appears that it is sinking in over at the Coleman camp that they will lose the recount so they are looking at going the route of trying to stall this in the courts. Thankfully, the ultimate judge this time would be the Democratically controlled Senate and not these clowns down the street...

7. The funniest moments yesterday
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 08:13 AM by Hokie
Someone voted for Franken but wrote in "Lizard people" in the write-in spot. Coleman's challenge was granted and it was called an over vote. On another ballot some one voted for Franken and added "stin" to Franken's name. Coleman's challenge was rejected and the vote counted. On another, the voter wrote in "Thanks for counting my vote" at the bottom. Coleman challenged this as an "identifying mark". That was rejected and counted for Franken. Finally, a voter who selected Franken wrote "Only because there is no other Democrat" next to his name. This challenge by Coleman was also rejected.

So far the rejection rate for Coleman challenges is significantly higher than it was for Franken challenges. If this continues today Franken should have a lead of a over a hundred votes at the end of the day.

8. They just started
The first business is the so called duplicate ballots. This is very important. Coleman's lawyer wants have the board accept a hypothetical as fact and knock out over a hundred Franken votes.

9. Looks like they will act his afternoon instead of this morning
The board really sounds like they are loathe to grant Coleman's request on these.
