Anything? Really?

Blanket statements are rarely accurate. This is why statements such as "you guys whine about anything Obama does" are untrue. No "whining" has been directed at the tolerant pastor scheduled to speak at the end of the inauguration, for example. No "whining" has been directed at the appointment of Hilda Solis as sec. Of Labor. Opposition to Hillary as SOS among blog readers was far from unanimous. Obama appointed Dennis C. Blair as intelligence chief yesterday or a few days ago. It would be silly to claim that this community has "whined" against Blair getting the job. Thus, "anything" in this context is a false statement used as a means to paint Rick Warren critics as irrational Obama haters who are unable to tell good from bad. "Some" is the right term.

I also hear others claiming that "after a month and a half, most here oppose Obama", again making a sweeping generalization, ignoring that it's perfectly possible for one to oppose Obama on some things while supporting him on others.

cute. And there are decidedly some people here who are simply trashing Obama. They did it before the election and they're doing it now. There's a difference between criticism and wholesale trashing.

Let's not forget: the allegation I criticize is that a significant portion of us criticize "anything" about Obama, whenh in fact I've cited several issues in which "whining" was non-existent, negligible or partial.
