I still plan to be among the 3 .... 4 ..... 5 million others who will be on the National Mall Jan 20 |
|
It is a HUGELY historic day and I am certain beyond a doubt that no matter where I am able to stand, I will next to someone weeping for joy. And whoever is next to me will be able to say the same, for I, too, will be weeping.
January 20 will be a day that I honestly never thought I would live long enough to see.
And now I want to experience it. I want to taste it, smell it, see it, hear, breathe it.
Nothing that is under my control will keep me from being there. I am prepared to be there even if it is snowing.
I am prepared to be there even if I STRONGLY disagree with the Warren pick. I will be there even if I am appalled by it. I will be there even if I find it disgusting and even as it makes me very disappointed in Obama.
And even as those who defend it or brush it aside, and with whom I strongly disagree, will be there with me.
I wanted Obama to be president. I am glad he is there. I DO feel hopeful.
But I will DAMNED SURE not stop believing in what I believe in.
My little flag, ought to make clear one of my beliefs.
If you think the Warren pick was okay, that's your right.
Just don't tell me I'm wrong to disagree with you.

It will be the first day of the end of so many of the things we rail against here.
Despite all the hand wringing going on.
He said from the beginning he was going to be inclusive. The shock shown by so many every time he is astounds me.
Its going to be an awesome presidency I wish I could go with you.

3. Well that is the other half of what is astounding here. |

Not only have we had the strident defense of the indefensible, but it seems that there is little comprehension that some of us can strongly oppose Obama on his Warren mistake, and continue to support the new administration. I wanted Obama to be president, I am glad he is there, and he has made an awful, insulting, wrong headed decision to put the prominent homophobic preacher Warren front and center in his inauguration. My hope for change now includes hoping that this new administration, not yet in power, will change some of the wrong headed decisions it has already made.

4. I have that same hope. |

Moving from candidate to president is not an easy change. Every move of every president is far more consequential and far more scrutinized than the same act from any other human.
