Should Kerry blast THE MEDIA for ignoring Iraq?
They're running interference for Bush by ignoring the reality over there.

I think that blasting the media would have the three following effects:

1. Chip away at this myth of the "So-Called Liberal Media."

2. Pressure the media to do their goddamn jobs.

3. Get people talking about Iraq even without the media covering it like they should.

1. He should
Iraq has dropped out of the headlines per orders of Karl Rove. I'm guessing that 70% of Americans think US troop casualties are down since the handover of power on June 28, when they have actually gone up!

2. That's what the "transfer of sovereignty" was all about.
Getting the media and public to stop discussing Iraq and the dead Americans there.

3. NO. BUT every other Dem should be doing this night and day.

Especially Al Gore. They should stay away from criticising reporters and concentrate on the editors.

4. Possibly, but isn't it also possible that
the only way the media will do their jobs is if Kerry himself pulls their pants down and shames them?

They IGNORE Democratic activists because the Reichwingers have intimidated them through charges of bias.

14. Kerry can't carry the whole load. It is time for a division of labor.
I'm not talking of "activists". I mean Carville, Bugala, Gore, Wes Clark, Bill Clinton, Dean etc. The big guns.

6. I've thought Kerry should expose the media all along
..starting with a statement to that fact at his convention just like Reagan did at his that brought the house down and the media was a coward around Ronnie from that day onward. Yes, he should blast them. If they turn and attack him, it makes them look worse. At best it will make them walk the middle of the road. He and Edwards need to directly assault them for what they are doing to this country and how they willingly go along with the Bush agenda and push us into war, etc.

9. No he shouldn't ...

He should concentrate on the issues. Us surrogates will take on the media. The last thing Kerry needs at this point is to declare war against CNN.

We'll let Howard Dean be the point man on sloppy journalism and their Republican (sloppy, poor research) bias. It is indeed anti liberal arts.

10. The media doesn't listen to anyone else.
If Dean says it--they'll just say it's crazy old Howard Dean.

11. Have you ever wondered ...

WHY they labeled Howard Dean as a nutcase and WHY they ran that doctored footage????

The reason is that Howard Dean dared to say that the media conglomerates should be broken up. I agree 100% with Howard Dean. But if you want to take on the media that you NEED, you should be a little more subtle about it!!!!

12. Kerry has built up enough cred that they can't do that to him.
It'll just look like retaliation.

Kerry needs to work the refs himself, because the rest of his surrogates have been doing a goddamn poor job of it.
