1. She emailed me today, "Happy Holidays"...
Didn't ask for money or anything...and I'm glad to read the vendors are slowly being paid. Mark Penn should be paid his 5.1 million last, if ever.

My letter from Hillary:

Dear (name withheld),

I couldn't let this holiday season pass by without taking the time to thank you for all the wonderful support you've given me. I've received so many kind messages in the last few weeks, and I can't tell you how much your friendship means to me.

As I celebrate the holidays with my family, I'll be thinking about all our wonderful memories from the past year. I hope you'll take the time to remember all the things we accomplished together and all the lives we touched.

I know that I am forever changed because of the journey you and I shared. It goes without saying that we have a lot to look forward to in the coming year. Even in the midst of great challenges here at home and around the world, we know change is coming and there is reason to have hope for a brighter future.

Thank you so much for everything, and I hope you have a very happy holiday season!

Sincerely,

Hillary

7. I don't know, all I have of them is this faded picture left with me at the orphanage.
There was also a note signed "name withheld", so that became my handle.

I wish I could find them.

5. Her daughter wrote me yesterday, Chelsea is her name.
This one was soliciting cash for her daddy's fancy pants foundation thingy...I'm thinking, no, let the Saudi Sultans and Rooskies help him out.

Chelsea's not so personal letter to me:

Dear dude who my mom has a crush on,

As you know, it's been an exciting year for my family and I am so proud of both of my parents. This summer, I had the great opportunity of traveling to Africa with my father, where we met Jean Pierre, a young boy in a rural village in Rwanda.

Jean Pierre is alive and well today because of the antiretroviral treatments that the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI) was able to make accessible to him. Jean Pierre told us that he wants to grow up to be a doctor and give more people a chance to live a healthy life.

Jean Pierre's story is inspiring, not just because he's benefiting from the work of everyone at CHAI, but also because he's leading by example with his lifetime goal of giving back and serving others through medicine.

While traveling across the country earlier this year supporting my mother, I was similarly inspired by the passion and generosity of so many Americans. In that spirit, I hope you'll consider supporting CHAI and the Clinton Foundation's other work in the U.S. and around the world. Gifts of any size make a very real difference.
* $15 provides a life-saving food package for an HIV-positive child for one month.
* $30 pays for 15 dosing tools for physicians and pharmacists to help accurately dose children on HIV/AIDS treatment.
* $80 ensures that eight community health workers can provide monitoring of adherence and medication intake for all HIV-positive people in a Malawian village for a week.
* $150 provides access to medical care and support -- including transport to and from a treatment center, counseling, and nutrition -- to one HIV-positive child in India for a year.

From my family to yours, we hope you have a happy, healthy holiday season.

All the best for 2009,

Chelsea Clinton

6. Oh my, Michelle Obama just sent me an email:
I like this one, not shilling for a big foundation but urging me to donate to a local food bank, something I do anyway. I'll donate a little extra on her suggestion.

Dear Handsome Man, (though I'm happily married) --

This holiday season, the grassroots movement you helped build can make a big difference for those in need.

I hope you will join me in supporting your favorite charity or contributing to causes that are especially meaningful to me and my family.

While many of us will spend the holidays counting our blessings and sharing dinner with loved ones, millions of people around the country won't be so fortunate. Donating to your local food bank will help provide a holiday meal to people in your community who can't afford one.

Talking with the families of deployed troops was one of the most rewarding experiences I had during the campaign. Giving to Operation USO Care Package is a great way to send members of our military stationed around the world a reminder that someone back home is thinking of them.

This is a time to celebrate our blessings, the new year, and a new era for our country. But it's also a time to come together on behalf of those who need our help.

Do what you can to help today by locating your local food bank and giving your support:

Or send a care package to an American in uniform:

Thank you for all that you do and have a very happy holiday season,

Michelle
