Did You Go To New York City To Do Your Christmas Shopping?
Mo(u)rning Joe Scarborough just said millions of American flocked this Christmas season to New York to shop there. What an idiot he is.

I read this is the worst Christmas for retailers in decades...

1. Trying to talk us out of the recession
by making people think that everyone is comfortable spending again.

BULL SHIT!

With a change in attitude. Of course, attitudes have some basis in reality. But he described the Christmas shopping season as if he lived in a parallel universe.

4. The circles he travels in
isn't really hurting yet.

For him and his friends belt tightening merely means laying off one of the maids!

3. I made phone calls
to my Grandkids apologizing for the holiday. I doubt they understand but we just had our hours cut 20%, 25% of our workforce was laid off with more to follow in the new year.

Well to say I "called" my Grandkids isn't entirely true, half of them and their mother are living with me because the support payments stopped because Dad is out of work.

But I'm in good shape compared to some of my co-workers. At least I'm old enough to go on SS if the plant closes or I get laid-off. Most of us don't have that safety net.

5. No I didn't
I live in Central NJ.

No sales tax.
Tons of locally owned stores/bakeries/wine shops.

I most certainly did NOT go into NYC to go shopping. And Mornin' Joe is an asshat.

9. I did no shopping
either in New York or Toledo. No one is getting gifts this year. Times are too tough! We are getting together for dinner and to look at old photos tomorrow. And on Saturday, we are getting together at my sister's cabin in the woods to celebrate my mom's birthday, which is next week. That is present enough.

10. Yes, I did.
Of course, I live in Brooklyn, so it's only 20 minutes by subway to Manhattan.
And I only bought one small item for Sweetie.
And, I had to do that, because her birthday is a couple of days after Xmas.
Other than that?
Just dinner with family...

14. I went to St.. Catharines, Ontario
What a fucking nightmare. It's the only decent shopping between Buffalo (where I won't go 'cause it's too depressing) and Toronto (where I won't got 'cause they're a bunch of fuckwads) so the place was jammed.
