Obama basks in political honeymoon: poll

Obama basks in political honeymoon: poll

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Barack Obama is riding the crest of the best approval ratings of any president-elect in decades, a new poll showed Wednesday as the next US leader relaxed on his Hawaii Christmas vacation.

Less than a month before Obama takes office in the teeth of the worst economic slump since the 1930s, a new CNN/Opinion Research survey found 82 percent of Americans approve of how he is handling his transition to power.

Obama's rating is higher than President George W. Bush's corresponding figure of 65 percent after the disputed 2000 election and higher than the 67 percent posted by Bill Clinton in 1992.

The poll was taken between Friday and Sunday, at the end of a period in which Obama has rolled out a high profile cabinet line-up and hosted almost daily press conferences as economic turmoil deepens.

"Barack Obama is having a better honeymoon with the American public than any incoming president in the past three decades," said CNN polling director Keating Holland on the news channel's website.

"He's putting up better numbers, usually by double digits, than Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, or either George Bush on every item traditionally measured in transition polls."

Fascinating.

4. This is disgusting.
WHO THE HELL WROTE THAT HEADLINE?

BASKING? bullshit. If anything, he and his staff are hard at work, hoping to hit the ground running, totally unlike Clinton's first year. In fact, Clinton's first two years were pathetic, and until he replaced some key people, the stink from the White House was pretty bad downwind.

When he finally got things moving, the GOP had begun its 4th or 5th move against Clinton. Unfortunately, the health care mess totally collapsed, even though both the D and R leaders were ready, willing and trying to fix the issue. (Some of Hillary's people fucked things up horribly) And thus we reached Ken Starr and his multi-million dollar hatchet.

The differences between 1992, 2000 and now are unbelievable. But there is NO FUCKING BASKING. That suggests being fat and sassy, resting on one's laurels, and picking one's nose.

5. You are right
basking is a horrible way for them to put it. Dude has been putting nose to grindstone since he was elected. I'm glad he is taking a vacation now, cos he is gonna need it.

6. Only 18 percent against him and some of those would 'don't knows'. That's amazing percentages.

10. honeymoon. blah.
CNN and Fox continue to attack the non-existent Blaggo ties.
Lots of liberals hate the Warren prayer choice.
Women's groups decry the lack of diversity.
The economy continues its death spiral.
Companies are shedding employees and cutting 401(k) contributions.

THIS IS A HONEYMOON? What the FUCK are they smoking?
