This is my first topic I posted so I hope I do it right.
I've decided to call the repuke thugs, "Bullies for Bush". I decided this after my nephew (on my husbands side) told an acquaintance that he should take off a negative Bush shirt. My nephew is doing a college semester in London and told the other kid he had no right to wear that shirt in another country, that the shirt was disrespectful and unpatriotic (yes he is for Bush).
That made me think, we as democrats, are being bullied by Bushies and I am tired of it. Anyone else feel this way? This campaign is all about bullies and bushit.
(Sorry if this belongs in another forum)

Did the other kid think it was okay for your nephew to wear the shirt in the US? Just wondering.

He would have said something to the kid in the states also, he is very pro-Bush. I hope the British straighten him out while he is in London.

2. Democrats are now standing their ground. You'll see less of the GOP |
|
bullying tactics this year than in previous years. Dems are in their "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" mode.
Welcome to DU and tell your nephew that wearing an anti-Bush tee-shirt abroad is a great way to get free drinks.

3. Hello Hope......welcome! |
|
I thought I was waving at a friend today when I discovered that although the car was the same and the figure driving it looked like her it wasn't.
How do I know this?? Am I psychic?
No, it's because the lovely middle aged women who I mistook for a friend was giving me the middle finger! And with both hands!!!
The back of my car is an advertisement for Kerry/Edwards.
I am appalled beyond believe.....but not surprised.
What a mess the republicans are in this country.
OK Hope, what are we going to do about it?
Vote the bastard out!!!!!!!

Sounds good to me!! Thanks for the welcome!! Love this place!! I am personally driving my sister and her just turning 18 year old son to the polls, my sister is against Bush/For Kerry, but says that it doesn't matter if you vote, just look at the last election (she hasn't voted in 20 years). I told her we are living in a swing state and she is voting!!!!!! Even if I have to take her screaming!!!
I also think I am going to work for the Kerry campaign, they are needing people to call in our state. I have never worked on a campaign before or been very involved in politics but this election has got me going!!

4. Remind your nephew that respect has to be earned - not freely given -- |
|
--and that it is not respectful to lie to your constituency, especially in matters as important as war. Also, ask him, if he's so pro-Bush, is he willing to enlist & sign up for duty in Iraq?

I like this approach... "We should go down there, get some guys together, y'know, get some bricks and baseball bats and really explain things to them". Isaac Davis (Manhattan 1979 by Woddy Allen)

I find it to be no bother at all. I just put the sticker in my trunk when I'm in rethug territory.
Only 50 days to go. Let's show strength through unity.

6. There are bullies on both sides |
|
I saw footage the other day of some guy heckling Kerry at an event, and getting put in a chokehold and punched by three larger men in union-type T-shirts. Bullies come in all types, and we should condemn them all.

>>>>>You have to be consistent in your position, and I would hope that those of us "on the left" would live up to our ideals.

I would have punched his lights out. He had no right to disrupt Kerry while he spoke. Kerry has open assemblies and the freep could have spoken later on.
Cowardly Bush restricts people going into his rallies and they have no platform at all.

14. If its the incident I think you mean, you are exaggerating |
|
The heckler was grabbed by one man wearing a Sheet Metal Union shirt. I didn't see anybody punch anybody else.
Maybe you saw a different incident. Maybe there are Republican bullies wearing union shirts attacking hecklers at rallies. I wouldn't put anything past the Republicans at this point.

I saw the event where the two men grabbed the heckler and sat him down. He was resisting all the way so they did force him down and held him until security arrived. There were no punches thrown. And by the way, did you see the young Republican at the Repubs convention that grabbed a small, young woman protester by the arm, throw her down on the ground and kick her until he was pulled off.

Your post is in exactly the right place.
The Republicans bully and lie to get their way, because if people knew the truth about Republicans they wouldn't vote for them.
