The anti-Obama threads on FR remind me of a great New Yorker cartoon I saw once. |
|
It was a full-page cartoon showing a packed theater in a view from the upper balcony. On the distant stage are a group of performers. The entire audience is laughing hysterically, falling in the aisles, throwing hats in the air, etc., except for one especially sour-looking old couple in the foreground who observe the proceedings with frowning faces and crossed arms. The old man turns to his wife and says, above the din, "Some sort of 'in' joke, I presume."

1. ha ha, and I love it when someone defends him... |
|
... insisting that he IS the President and therefor deserving of their respect.
To which someone will inevitably respond by saying that he was born on Mars and until he can produce a birth certificate that meets their level of approval, they're not respecting ANYONE! lol

4. Heh. I guess Obama's supposed to go to each freeper's house |
|
with his original birth certificate in hand so they can see it. Just nuts, isn't it?

5. How long ago was the cartoon? Do you remember what was going on |
|
at the time? Kind of reminds me of my parents watching All In The Family way back when.

6. Boy, it was a *long* time ago. |
|
I would guess late 60s, early 70s. I think you can get the full New Yorker set on CD now, I wonder whether you can search the cartoons by caption.
The hijacked bit was gone by the time I got back here, wonder what it was about.
