Ruining Kerry; Ruining Bush |
|
From various articles I've read, many people regard Kerry as elitist, a flipflopper, and insincere. This is after months of Kerry bashing by the right wing. They used bigotry--"accused" him of being French as a way of saying snob. They used distortion to make him sound like a flipflopper. And they used lies to try to take away his service in Vietnam and make him sound unpatriotic. The only one of those issues where the truth seems to have prevailed (so far) is that regarding his service in Vietnam and any questions of his patriotism.
Given their success, it seems to me that the Democrats have got to do all they can to do the same to Bush. Show him as an ignorant coward who lies on policy and in his personal life. They can't let up until some of that truth sticks. Do to Bush what the wingnuts did to Gore, to Clinton, and are now trying to do to Kerry.
It's unfortunate that this is the state of politics, but we owe it all to Reagan and Gingrich, who launched the era of lies and unethical political methods. Until someone again finds a way to win on simply truth and ideas, politics will be dirty.

1. We wouldn't have to lie, smear or distort in order to make Bush look bad.. |
|
... we just have to get past the media-resistance.

2. From the various posts I've read, |

many people regard Onlooker as a naysayer, perhaps not a Democrat. I don't think Kerry is ruined and I don't think anyone needs to resort to Karl Rove's attack model to demonstrate that Bush has an agenda that is unfair to the vast majority of Americans.

3. What the hell are you talking about? |

All I'm saying in this post is that the Dems need to be as tough and negative as the Republicans.
When you say "many people regard Onlooker as a naysayer, perhaps not a Democrat," you're lying or maybe mistaking me for someone else.
Where you say, "I don't think Kerry is ruined" suggests your not a very careful reader. My point is that the goal of politics seems to be to ruin the reputation of the candidate. The Republicans are clearly trying to do that to Kerry, and your post is the same sort of nonsense in its own small way.
