Obama once said that a President has to be able to do two things at once |
|
So this excuse about the country having more pressing issues than prosecuting Bush and Cheney just won't fly. Obama can work on the economy AND prepare investigations into Bush war crimes at the same time, with the help of his new Justice Dept. My two cents.

It really is extremely important that the Bush administration be investigated and prosecuted if found guilty. It is VITAL to the survival of America and The Constitution.

4. Having said that, ALSO realize investigations and prosecutions aren't going to happen over night |
|
either. They're going to take time. But as long as we keep in touch with Obama and Holder and Dawn Johnsen, keep pestering and pestering them, they should know we mean business.

"Time" is the key word, along with priorities. Obama has to take on the tough things first, and let his AG take care of putting together the pieces of what happened the last 8 years. If those who committed the crimes are to be taken before a court, then they should make damn sure that they have a solid case that won't be thrown out over some stupid technicality. It will take time, but I agree that if we keep pestering them, it will show that the people are serious. This also has to be done with all kinds of other things that need to be addressed. We need change, but it will take time to get it all done.

14. Yeah but you were ready to impeach Obama over some bullshit |
|
like thinking he's not "fit" to be president because he's not acting as fast on this as you want him to.

16. Please learn to read. I said if Obama were to ignore crimes by the bushies for |
|
short term political gains then I would work to impeach him. (IF that is the case)
I would hope you would also. I've had eight years of a lawless presidency. I don't need 4 more.
That would be obstructing justice.
By law, he can't ignore some peoples crimes and go after others. He has to apply the law uniformly.
That's the law.
We will see if he's up to doing the job that george bush wasn't.
You may have seen his interview today. It was less than inspiring in terms of enforcing our laws. But that's just talk. We will see what his actions are.
But people who say Obama can ignore our laws are wrong. And some folks are saying just that.

That is why I'm keeping mum about this. Perhaps I am setting myself up for disappointment, but I'm also hoping this is the reason Obama has been so low key about this. I don't want Obama to say too much until he is safely sworn in and he and his family are comfortably residing in the White House. I really don't trust the Bushies, as paranoid as that may sound. They'll do anything to save their own skins, and fuck everyone else.

12. I think you're right. I don't really know how this thing will play out |
|
but he would have been an idiot to sit on tv today, as President Elect and say, hell yeah! We are going to nail their asses! It would have been great to hear but he's not stupid.

Let his justice department put together an iron clad case against them, then take them to court. It is going to take time to get the facts and put a case together.
