Anyone tired of all the hoopla but ready for Obama's presidency? |
|
I don't know him personally so I won't be jumping on any couches or anything (or crying). I'm just ready for this country to get back on tract. As a matter of fact, since the economy is so bad, why isn't Obama encouraging us to save our money and watch the inauguration at home (although that's our own responsibility). I bet people will be spending money they don't have to attend the ceremony. This is feeling too Hollywood. Looking forward to what matters.

And Obama's presidency just can't come soon enough, so I'm way more than ready.

2. "why isn't Obama encouraging us to save our money" |
|
simply because neoliberals think the only way to prop up our diseased economy is to continue credit spending. Unfortunately, Obama seems quite aligned with this mentality.

26. Unfortunately, people like you who are criticizing Obama for that are aligned |
|
with the freepers and other conservatives who are calling FDR a failure and opposing Obama's stimulus program because it will increase the deficit.

Edited on Tue Jan-13-09 08:34 PM by FarceOfNature
I voted for him, that's all the loyalty I owe ANY politician, especially one who insists on stocking his Cabinet full of DLC pigs, corporate whores, and DINOS.
BTW, I was referring to credit spending on the behalf of US citizens, NOT government deficit spending. I know it will be impossible to avoid deficit spending, but my main issue was tax cuts that are meant to be spen quickly to pump cash into the economy. THAT is a very old Repuke trick, and I'm not thrilled that Obama seems to champion it too.

into lasting and long-needed public works projects such as fixing bridges, ports, etc.

Edited on Tue Jan-13-09 05:42 PM by babylonsister
And you haven't been listening. Obama has said it will get worse before it gets better. He's not asking people to go shopping or to ignore the current situation.
He also hasn't been actively promoting the inauguration. People 'want' to go. This is historic, and I can't wait to witness it (from afar).

7. Some experiences are priceless...... |
|
and Obama is not anyone's daddy, in terms of telling us how and where we should watch the inauguration.
Beyond that, perhaps this is feeling too Hollywood to those who won't be jumping on any couches or anything (or crying); those detached enough from history to not realize what times these are that they are living in until the history books are written. Others, just don't plain care much for Barack Obama, for whatever their reasons, and I'm sure that more than a few "Birthers" will be spending the upcoming days under their couches with their televisions off. The rest of us who have worked hard to finally see the upcoming events of next week; if this is what "Hollywood" feels like, then Hollywood feels hella good!

9. What was so darn offensive and yes I'm still here. what's that supposed to mean? |
|
Why is it that anytime I post, I get negative comments? What did I say that was so offensive this time. I am looking forward to Obama's presidency. I could care less if Garth Brooks, Queen latifa, John Mellencamp,Mary J Blige or Beyonce are going to performing. How cheesy even. And,Denzel has to speak too. Geez.(I like Denzel so leave that alone). Yes, Will Smith will be there studying Obama's every move so he can play him in The Obama Movie. I want this country to be taken seriously and would prefer that we tone down the hoopla and stay focused. Guantanomo bay's a good start, IMO.

|
..... PALEEZE!!!
After 8 long, miserable years with an imbecile for a President, we are FINALLY getting someone who's intelligent, kind and A DEMOCRAT!!!! Any self-respecting leftie should be out frolicking in the streets over the notion.
This is not about HIM ..... it's about US!!!! It's about what WE did!!!
(he just, ya know, helped a little lol)
I will also add that people fought and DIED so that African Americans could have the right to vote ... there are people who SHOULD be here to witness this moment, but aren't. Guess what? Because of them, I intend to cry and CRY often. .... it would be supercool if you could not mock that anymore. ;)

Otherwise, I know a lot of students were planning to stay home and watch it there.
