Look at the original post, the bottom left corner, several actions available, one of them is "recommend" you click on that and you get a note asking you to confirm that, indeed, you want to recommend. And you have a window of 24 hours to do so.

(Sorry. The devil made me do that.) I agree. Those stupid "Recommend this thread if..." threads totally devalue and distort the purpose of the Greatest page. I posted 2 or 3 threads on this early on when the trend got popular, but of course my threads sank instantly.
