MATT LAUER->NBC->General Electric->DEFENSE CONTRACTS for GE - $$$
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 11:31 AM by jackstraw45
General Electric, from 2000-2003, has TRIPLED their revenue from DEFENSE contracts.

Gee, and you wonder why the little today show hosts are emailed their questions from the White House.

Military/Defense revenue in 2003: $3,100,000,000
Military/Defense revenue in 2002: $2,800,000,000
Military/Defense revenue in 2001: $2,300,000,000
Military/Defense revenue in 2000: $1,100,000,000

A PRIME example of why the Corporate Media MUST be busted apart!

Journalists should be in the NEWS business...NOT the Defense business.

END the Corporate Media! Bust it UP!

2. GE pays Katie Couric $15 million a year, GE pays Matt $8 million a year
Good investment to get political attack dogs when needed.

4. MSNBC just had a guy on saying Kitty's book is unethical
Where has this guy been when the SBV had their "Unfit to be Printed" and all the other polemic screeds from Hannity to Coulter and beyond. HHHhhhmmmmmmmm?

6. Good find!
I stopped watching the Today show when President Clinton was in office. In contrast to the Kitty Kelley interview, they hammered Clinton daily with slanderous comments.

What's CNN's stake in boosting this inept administration, I wonder.

Good job, jackstraw!

7. While you are at it, look into Tim Russert, Jack Welch (GE)
connection too. Jack Welch is a solid Bush man from way back when.

8. Lauer on golf with Welch - "most memorable experience I've personally had"
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 11:49 AM by Snellius
Matt Lauer writing in The Golfer magazine:

Probably the single most memorable experience I've personally had on a golf course occurred when Jack Welch, then Chairman of GE, and Bob Wright, President of NBC, took me down to The Floridian, in Hobe Sound, for my 40th birthday. We were going to a play foursome with Wayne Huizinga. But I was friendly with Greg Norman, who I knew lived only 15 minutes away and invited him to join us for the round. When I told Welch that Norman would be joining us, he said he didn't want to play with him, he'd be intimidated. But we finally convinced him to play in a fivesome that paired Welch and me against Norman, Wright and Huizinga.

It was one of those amazing days, with Welch having a career round. He ended up missing a putt on the 18th hole for a 68. The guy who didn't want to play and thought he'd be intimidated shot a 69 against Norman, who shot 70. I shot a 78.

During an interview Welch had sometime later with Fortune or Business Week, it was suggested that being head of GE was probably the most exciting thing that ever happened to him. Welch said, "No," and got his secretary to bring in the scorecard from the match against Greg Norman. "That's the most exciting thing that ever happened to me."

When I read the interview, I gave Norman a call and being the most gracious guy in the world, he immediately sends Welch a fax, telling him he really needs to get a hobby. "You need to discover something else to find thrills." •

10. They keep us distracted with Zany Al and fiesty Katie
But believe me, even though they pay Katie and Matt over $23 a year, GE spends MUCH more than that on Washington lobbyists EVERY YEAR.
