It seems like the same people who "guaranteed" Bush's impeachment are ever so certain Bushco
will eventually be prosecuted for their crimes.

Like I said about impeachment, it just ain't gonna happen.

I really don't see any last minute theatrics on Bush's part, no high profile or mass pardons. They will simply leave office without fear of prosecution.

I just don't think its reasonable to think that anything else will happen.

Some congressional inquries? Sure.

High profile indictments and trials? I wouldn't hold your breath for 24 business hours trying to find out.

1. What people?
I have no memory of anybody guaranteeing it, not to say it didn't happen, I just never heard anybody say it.

What I DO have a memory of is lots of people saying it 'ain't gonna happen', or it's 'off the table'.

Oh I remember all sorts of threads.
The one that sticks out right now was something "If we get a million signatures impeachment is back on the table"

It just seemed that many people here, against all reason really thought Bush would be impeached, and these same people seem to really and genuinely believe that Bush and friends are in danger of being prosecuted. They simply are not.

3. In life throughout history many do not get what they deserve,
and many get what they do not deserve. It is an unfair and imperfect world, but I did not ever believe Bush would be impeached either and it was a lock that he would never be convicted by the Senate. Those who cried for impeachment seemed to want the process more than a conviction, like it would somehow cleanse their anger. Then when it didn't happen they turned on the "spineless" Democrats in Congress who would not do what they wanted. Some underlings may be convicted of something, but the ones at the top will go free. Such is life.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

7. That was a sarcastic reference
to a widespread rumor back when Fitzgerald was investigating the Plame affair. One of the more noteworthy (at the time) left-wing news sources, TruthOut, broke the "news" that it had insider information that Fitzgerald was going to indict Rove "within 24 hours." That quickly became "24 business hours," then it became "soon, but our sources are very reliable," and then came the finger-pointing.

8. hmm ok. I value sarcasm.
I guess TruthOut is entitled to be wrong once in a while; they're probably telling more truth than all the M$M put together. But yeah, I would have taken with a grain of salt any claims that the Bu$h crime family was going to be prosecuted.

9. I see the potential for some underlings to be prosecuted
Specifically, Donald Rumsfield.

That, of course, is dependent upon no last minute pardons.

10. This is basically what I'm talking about.
There's basically no chance whatsoever that Rumsfeld will face prosecution.

Don Rumsfeld will spend the rest of his life counting his money. Its unfortunate, but true.

11. You're right that nothing will happen
Washington Democrats are too cowardly to do anything... plus it would implicate many of them in the crimes. Plus they like their little fraternity and share many of the same corporate donors as their Republican friends... wouldn't want to piss them off.

Hard to prosecute a crime when you're complicit in it.

But hey maybe we'll get a strongly worded letter to make up for it. :eyes:

12. I have a feeling Dick Cheney may get prosecuted. No one likes him,
so there is no potential for political backlash. Bush will probably get off though.

13. Guess you need to change your signature then
If the Bush Crime Family is not brought to justice, then Clinton's statement cannot possibly be true. Because they, and all who enable them (including spineless cowards like Pelosi and Reid) ARE what's wrong with America.
