If the Inaugural Committee sends me another fundraising email...
I will personally go to DC and shove someone's Blackberry in an anatomically inconvenient location.

If you are going to stiff me by NOT sending me so much as as a nice looking but useless "commemorative invitation", then I'd like to know why the hell you think I am going to help underwrite your big day?

Should I stop by the supermarket and pick up the beer and chips for you Super Bowl party, too?

5. I wouldn't count on it
What pisses me off is that every god damned Hillary volunteer, co-chair, and hanger-on in New Hampshire is going to DC, but people who were supporting Obama from the start are getting fucked over.

I shouldn't be surprised. Obama's state director and political office during the primary were utterly incompetent and deathly afraid of offending the Hillary supporters at the state party. They threw a lot of us under the bus two years ago, and we are still picking bits and pieces of ourselves out from the axles.

11. On the contrary
I started volunteering for Obama on the ground in New Hampshire in February of 2007.

Stuck with him after his state campaign director lied to me and funneled resources to local candidates who were supporting other presidential candidates.

Stuck with him when one of the supposed leaders of the local Democratic Party was running around to the veteran's clubs spreading the "lapel pin" and "Muslin" slop.

I get hit up for money, but I get blown off when it's time for the inaugural. Hillary's crew get invites, but Obama's staunchest volunteers get BOHICA'd time and time again.

7. They are sneaky and I don't want anything to do with them
Washington Post put a post up that there was a secret section of ticketmaster to get ball tickets. It was set up for volunteers and others. Anyway, I called the office and asked if it was legit. The lady who answered the phone LIED and said no. She was quite nasty about it. Now I found out that the people who ordered actually got tickets to the ball. I'm so upset about the whole thing. They gave the rest away to different clubs..........

12. Did you volunteer for the campaign?
Give big $$? I'm trying to figure out the threshold for how they decided who got what. I didn't give a whole lot of money - maybe $100? But I worked full time for the campaign for 2 1/2 months for free. One of those commemorative invitations would have been really nice to give my little boy. :(

13. They upset me too. They led me on so many times, got my hopes up
The hope of tickets to the convention, then to grant park, then to Inauguration. I don't like my emotions being toyed with like that! But I did receive the commemorative invitation! I'm sure you will get it soon. Mine came the other day.

18. Believe it or not, I tried that
I'm a local elected official. When i ran in my last race in 2007, I tried to squeeze a few bucks out of HopeFund. They told me that they didn't get involved in races where two Democrats were on the ballot.

Funny, they didn't mind when i got involved in that little scuffle between O and a fellow Democrat named Hillary.

I am so fucking fed up with the ingrates that run the Democratic Party.

said the samy thing to myself. Glad someone else said it out loud. My congressman and senator practically laughed when I asked about tickets for the event(s). Suddenly I am just one of the unwashed masses.

23. Not enough, it seems
When the inaugural committee is headed by a Patton Boggs lobbyist who got his job based on daddy's connections, these things seem to happen with alarming frequency.

22. I guess you don't have a six figure income, right?
Because the ONLY Obama supporters that I know of who have received any sort of invitation are wealthy and/or have Ivy League pedigrees.

It makes me feel like the whole "we are the change we've been waiting for" line was a big con job.

31. I agree. I donated more to this
campaign that I have to any other, and not so much as a bumper sticker, without paying for it. I do get to look at my son's T-shirt he received. I Don't know why I didn't get one. My sister even got a thank you note in the mail.

I feel like an orphan. Well, I suppose I am. Both my dear parents are now gone. My Dad would have loved this. When he was wheeled in to critical care days before he passed (Apr 2004) the nurse asked him if he knew who the President was. Dad said, "Of course I do, he's the son of a bitch who got us into war for nothing!".

33. Sigh....I also got text messages on my cell phone a couple days ago...
"Help PE Obama renew America w/service projects around the Inauguration." by texting SERVE and also how to get Inauguration updates by texting HISTORY to a certain number.

I was a volunteer for the campaign and a runner on election day. Seems the O administration will be keeping using their email and cellphone databases fairly regularly :)

I don't mind. If I'm not interested I just hit delete and it's gone.

34. I donated money too and don't expect a darn thing but that satisfaction that Obama, not McCain is
going to be president. Really, I don't need no commemorative whatever to make myself feel placated. There are only a limited # of tickets to the darn thing, what do you expect? There are going to be people left out. Where else is he supposed to get the money for the inauguration from, money trees? Geez. I'd like to know exactly who got tickets and then see exactly how much money they make, would that make you happy?

35. The myth of "not enough room"
I attended the 1993 inaugural. There are tens of thousands of parade route bleacher seats and standing spots on the mall. Let the envelope stuffers and phone bankers have the first dibs on these tickets. if the big donors and DNC members want to go to a $500 per person cocktail party (aka, a ball), let them. But let those who worked in the trenches have their moment, too.

36. There are no "standing spots on the mall" because Obama opened up the entire mall for
people to view the swearing-in.

Notwithstanding, the parade doesn't go past the mall anyway.

And while there are a number of bleacher seats along the parade route, most of the sidewalks are open to anyone who wants to stand there on a first-come first-served basis.

I don't know what else they could do to make this inauguration as open as possible - I've been to several inaugurations and this is by far the most open and accessible.
