But seriously, somebody pinch me...
I'm trying not to get too excited. Until he takes the oath on Tuesday.. otherwise, we still have that assturd as *president. But seriously, somebody pinch me. We are 3 days away from having a guy who's named Barack Hussein Obama sworn in as President. A black man with parents from the heart of Africa and the US, with a wife, a real wife, not a plastic one, from Chicago and two terrific kids, not those spoiled bratt kind. Is this real? I know I don't agree with everything he's doing, but in general, this is the most amazing time of my life. I never thought politics could be soooo inspiring to so many finally. I never imagined that most of this country would wake up just enough to do the right thing. I'm trying to remain calm unil the oath is read. I'm sooo happy to have a reasonable president who wants to listen and work for the best of people.

2. Consider yourself pinched.
But go ahead and dream on for a while. I'll give you about one month before reality sets in and.....

In truth, I agree: things seem a bit more tolerable this weekend.... if only because there's a flicker of light at the end of this tunnel.

But........... don't get carried away:

>>>I never imagined that most of this country would wake up just enough to do the right thing.>>>

People voted their self interest. As they perceived it.

4. I feel really bad
for loads of people who never lived long enough to see this happen.

As for myself, I think there may come quite a few times when I wake up each day and think it must all be a dream, just to be RID of that assclown Bush we've had to suffer with for eight long, dreary years, let alone have a black man named Barack Hussein Obama as President.

Someone I will be PROUD to call "President".

:)

6. Yes, it is very surreal...
I am watching MSNBC and they have file footage of him arriving at an aiplane and getting out of the Presidential limo. That makes me feel good that he's got a fuckin' tank of a car to protect him. There were some posts in the General Discussion forum last night about one guy who has been arrested by the Secret Service for threatening Barack, and also Hal Turner (infamous white supremacist radio host) claiming he has an assassination plot in place.
