What The Inaugural Means To Me...
An "Inaugural" address is a statement by the new President of the United States to its citizens as to his intentions for the country as its leader. Most of these intentions have already been stated by the candidate during the primaries, but this is the commitment, the promise, that the new President intends to accomplish during his term in office.

The Inaugural to me, is the gathering of citizens from all parts of our nation, via radio. television and for many, personally, among the huge throng of well-wishers in Washington, D.C., to hear first-hand the words of Hope, Change, and an optimistic outlook for our future. We, as a people, have always been optimistic in nature. Through the horror years of the Depression and too many wars, losses too great to comprehend at the time, the spirit of this nation has always been one of "Get yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again."

The Inauguration and the Address of President Barack H. Obama will be historical in unprecedented ways. This handsome, young, and brilliant African-American who appeared to come out of nowhere, stole the hearts of Americans. I often think he knows us better than we know ourselves. He has stated who and what we are as a nation, what he hopes he can do to make us better as a people, and most of all, his confidence in our ability to make it happen.

We have huge tasks in the coming days, namely getting the nation back to its core of values and basic beliefs. The Founding Fathers should once again, rest easy. The new President cannot accomplish these tasks alone. Again, the Inaugural ceremony, the Address, will solidify that commitment the new President has made to us, and allows us to join together as one to help him.

This Inaugural is more than special; it's historic in that President Obama will be the first African-American leader of our nation. For me, an unequivocal fact that the United States is hopefully beginning to evolve and live up to those precious words, "all men are created equal."

This Inaugural is an event that promises all of us, a new and brighter outlook for our lives, a solid future for our children with our health and welfare again restored. Hope and Change. They are the promise, they are our future. I shall pray daily for all of us, but especially for Barack H. Obama, our new President of the United States of America.
