How long have you been at DU?

To commemorate the inauguration of the first Democratic President since this site was created, I thought a census was in order--along with some of the events that may have pushed you here in the first place.

2. I started lurking after Bush's "victory" in 2004.

I officially joined in 2005.

3. I lurked

for over a year. Something seemed to be going dreadfully wrong. Indeed, it did.

26. Lurked a good two years

but felt no particular urge to post until after the Great Presidential Election Farce of 2004. Afterwards I experienced the full range of dismay, outrage and despair at Kerry's loss and just had to share it with like-minded folks. We've seen strange days, but I love it and am here to stay regardless of trolls, freepers, PUMAs, DINOs and the like.

7. I've lurked daily since 2001 before 9/11

Around June or July of that year I started getting very alarmed at all the Bush activity which was undermining anything that was liberal or progressive, like refusing to sign onto the Kyoto Agreement and realizing the media just wasn't going to cover it. In desperation I googled democratic sites and found DU among others.

9. I was reading the forum at michaelmoore.com

in 2001 and a link brought me here. There were 5,000 registered members at the time. (mike got rid of that forum, btw. It was an unmoderated free-for-all over there; I was ecstatic to discover DU)

10. When Mike Malloy was fired by Air America Radio.

Sam Seder, who had a show on Air America too, directed his listeners to a "Bring Back Malloy" petition on DU. It was just before the 2006 elections and DU was wildly involved in everything that mattered to me. I've been hooked ever since.

12. Accidently found DU by finding "Top 10 Conservative Idiots"

posted elsewhere. When I followed the link and found a weekly listing, I read ALL the previous "Top 10s" and laughed so hard I had pepsi all over my keyboard. Joined and donated... been here in good times (for me) and bad.

14. CORRECTION: Dean v Kerry was 2003. Dean and Kerry worked together fine in 2004 when most

of the best known Dems were still publicly supporting and defending Bush on his terrorism and Iraq war decisions.

18. 2001 Bush inauguration.......

Where someone at the parade was holding up a huge DU poster. I had been lurking for years before I started posting. Wish I could thank whoever was holding that sign. I've been visiting DU ever since.

It was when that guy at truthout, Jason somebody, declared that KKKKarl was going to be indicted. This created a great fuss on DU, especially when he turned out to be wrong.
