1. I heard that HBO will broadcast the concert and offer it free
to non-subscribers. I believe the time is 7:00 pm EST.

16. I understand that HBO is making its signal available
to anyone with cable. Well, I have cable but I can't seem to get it. Anyone know what I should do?

2. 7:00 Eastern Time
Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 02:02 PM by ayeshahaqqiqa
you can watch, I think, if you go to http://www.hbo.com At least that's where I'm going in about half an hour. If you have cable, just go to your hbo channel--they are showing everything for free. Edited because I just clicked on links at hbo and the Obama message there said 7:00.

4. Here!
HBO and MTV are adjusting their telecast plans as Tuesday’s inauguration of President-elect Obama draws near.

On Sunday night, HBO had been planning to telecast the opening event of the inauguration, an afternoon combined concert and reading at the Lincoln Memorial.

The musical performers for the event include Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, John Mellencamp, Pete Seeger, Stevie Wonder, will.i.am and James Taylor. Historical passages will be read by Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Queen Latifah, Jack Black and Steve Carrell.

Now HBO will also telecast the event live at 2:30 p.m. EST Sunday, repeating it twice Sunday night. The event is supposed to run two hours, but could go longer.

As in the original plan, HBO is working with satellite and cable operators to make its normally subscription service free for the inauguration telecast. The concert will also air on HBO Latino, with a Spanish translation for the readings.

6. HBO will show it starting 2:30 PM EST
It's is free even if you do not pay for HBO on cable. Just tune to the HBO channel. Rebroadcast at 7 PM. On Dish Network it is channel 300 (303 for HD sets). You can receive it even if you are not an HBO subscriber. I don't know about Direct TV

9. HBO has Unscrambled starting at 11:30 am Pacific
I'm all programmed now to see it on Dishnetwork where HBO has their signal unscrambled on Sunday. It's in HD at least on Channel 9456 "We Are One: The Obama Inaugural" - Opening inaugural celebrations. I think that means music :dem: :bounce:

13. Depends on where you are located.
I suggest that you go to your cable provider's website and see if you can find it. Otherwise, I would contact them....and hope that they are answering the phone.

12. It will only be available to those who have cable, satellite, or internet access.
Fuck everybody else I guess. I'm still trying to figure out who HBO paid for exclusive access to a public event held on public property, and who decided to sell it.

17. I can only assume that you'd be correct about that.
However, one thing I was focusing on are the rural areas that depend on broadcast television only, and there are a large number of those in this country. I guess they're screwed, and rightly so?

The other thing I'd like to know is who's getting the dough that HBO coughed up for exclusive broadcast rights? Exclusive broadcast rights to a public event taking place on public property.
