7. must be - I always tell people I used to be considered almost conservative
back in the VietNam days. Now I am a wild eyed liberal pinko commie.
All because I want true graduated taxes, health care, oversight of businesses, a check on governmental power etc.

8. Yep. That's what they consider "far left" nowadays.
Once upon a time, it was considered "conservative", but now all of a sudden anything that isn't for Wall Street, for the wars, for MORE tax cuts even if we can't afford it, for building walls along our borders - is "far left".

10. Let's be clear who "they" are, though
"They" are DC insiders and the corporate media. Outside the Beltway bubble, most of the views denounced as "far left" by the bobbleheads are actually mainstream, though you'd never know it from watching CNN et al.

14. You're absolutely right. Add to that, the majority of Americans are actually
"far left" since they all want the so-called far left's policies of universal health-care, living wages, equal pay for equal work, good education, just to name a few.

Poll after poll shows that.

3. Take down the health insurance industry.
And that would leave several billionaires without a conduit to bilk us all.

(I finally watched "Sicko" last night. My husband and I were disgusted. How does one begin to immigrate to Europe?)

15. Our "sick care insurance" is corporate-owned. Corporations have a legal duty to make profit for
their shareholders. What in god's green earth made Americans think that corporations are a good middleman for health insurance??

They have but ONE legal goal in mind: profit.

I agree, they need to be eliminated, and if I understood Obama correctly, that's exactly what he plans to do, not overtly attacking the corporate insurance companies, but by offering an alternate one akin to what all congress-critters are enjoying.

The choice is up to the people to stay with their sick-care HMO's and PPO's, or to buy in to the government sponsored one.

4. three things
1) freedom from government intrusion into our private affairs
2) equality of all people under the law
3) economic security for everyone

those are pretty damn scary. Imagine if we actually had freedom, equality, and economic security. What a nightmare.

5. on the surface -- the 'far left'{ a fiction in this country} --
lines up -- suspiciously -- in the minds of the center and right -- with labour -- i.e. unions.

and since the 70s that's become a minefield in amerca.

9. Terrible, awful things: like justice, a clean environment, sick people getting
to go to the doctor, good schools, etc.

That is why they must be stopped! Luckily, our new crew of "centrists" here will be sure to shout down these dangerous people.

12. wanting it all and wanting it NOW is the problem
WHAT you want isn't the problem. Most people who occupy any position on the left want most of the same things.

It's the methods, the rhetoric, the threats of electoral blackmail, the unbending tendency to reject compromise to get some of what you want when, without compromise, you get NOTHING - THAT is the problem.

13. I don't even know who the designated far left is and what they want
I may not want it either depending on what it is. I know I'm not impressed with the "far right" if that means Coulter's bunch.
