She held it while she shook Obama's hand and he kissed her on the cheek. She held it behind her while they took the picture and she held it while they walked through the doors. The entire time she held it quite naturally and in no way treated it as toxic or immediately passed it off to someone. Was she really supposed to carry the gift around for the rest of the inauguration or was it reasonable that she would hand it to someone?

There are undoubtedly things to be critical of Laura Bush, but let's not just fabricate things that did not happen.
