WHY did Chief Justice Roberts CHANGE THE SCRIPT?
Edited on Tue Jan-20-09 12:39 PM by Julius Civitatus
It sounded like he changed the script, as it was initially rehearsed.
He definitely changed the breaks and pauses, making Obama stumble.
He cut off Obama at times, making the whole thing uncomfortable.

Why?
This was not very nice.

:wtf:

1. Laying the groundwork
for a lawsuit that would declare Obama not legally the president?

3. He's on heavy meds to control his seizures and collapses
the pills probably screw up his thought processes, but don't be concerned, he's only the chief justice of the SCOTUS. :scared:

5. He definitely changed a few things from the Oath
Edited on Tue Jan-20-09 12:44 PM by Julius Civitatus
First, he made a pause after mentioning Obama's name. When Obama starts to repeat it... Roberts cuts him off, and continues reciting the oath.

Then he changes the script, saying "President" when it should have said "President of the United States of America".

The question is, was this an innocent mistake, or did Roberts do it on purpose?

6. You really didn't expect Roberts to read the Constitution so he'd get the oath right, did you? (eom)

8. No, it wasn't nice. But then, what do we expect?
The man is either a dimwitted oaf who can't remember a few simple sentences or can't read the words written on cue cards.

That his fuckups spilled all over our new president sucks a big one.

14. So am I
Chief Justice can't manage to remember 35 words?!! Bullshit - he should be ashamed of himself and should apologize to the President and all of us.

10. MSNBC just called it!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28745226

"Roberts, who used no notes, stumbled at one point, appearing to forget the opening words. Obama, a former constitutional law professor, made sure to insert the crucial phrase “that I will faithfully execute the office of president to the United States.”

11. A desparate Hail Mary??
If Obama didn't say the oath verbatim, exactly as in the Constitution, I'll bet the Neo-Cons thought that if he didn't say it exactly as spelled out, he would not officially be our President.

16. It doesn't matter
Obama became President at noon - with or without the oath. Let them spins their wheels any way they like - it just makes them look like the small, petty people they are.

12. This is the opening salvo in the attacks that the President will have...
to deal with.
The right wing has made it clear that they will not give Obama one inch of room.
Why does the right wing hate the United States?

17. This little "flub" by the Chief Justice is petty at best.
It just shows how horrid the American right wing is.

A natural born Republican if you knock him down will spit on your shoes because, even that does nothing, that's all he has left to do.
