Olbermann's comparing Memo debate to Manchurian Candidate! |
|
LOL!
Notes that in MC, Raymond's mother insisted that it didn't matter if the number of Communists they claimed were in the State Department changed from day to day - since no one would be asking WHETHER there were any Communists in the State Department, but would be arguing about how many!

1. It was a very interesting spin, certainly not positive. |

People aren't debating facts, their arguing semantics. A story about the story. It Doesn't matter whether these particular documents are forgeries or not, only whether or not the facts they represent are true or not. They refuse to argue on the merits of criticism.

2. That was a sad moment for Olberman, since he had to shade the truth |
|
He had to change the story because it would have been too complex and off message. He said "she told him to say 56 communists"
The figure in the movie is, of course, 57. The characters arrive at the number "57 communists" by glancing at a Heinz 57 bottle on the table.
Poor Keith realized that including the Heinz reference would swamp what he was trying to say--people would think he was saying the Angela Lansbury character was Teressa or something. Since he's a trivia geek that must have killed him to leave out.
