1. I like how everyone repeated "...swear or affirm." It's like, guys, just pick one.

22. Oh it was hillarious.....
... I can understand why Barack perhaps thought joking about it was not the best idea, but he knew what he was getting into when he picked Joe. Love that guy!

14. Obama is well aware that where Biden is concerned, what you
see is what you get. Take it or leave it and he took it.

16. Yep, I loved it, both Biden's comment and the look on the President's face...
they are going to make a great team, they already are a great team.

21. That's exactly right!
It's going to be healthy to have these two men playing and working off of one another.

After all, we've had two drones in the office of President and Vice President for the last eight years. It will be a welcome relief to have two, distinct personalities inhabit those offices.

And although I fully believe that Biden knows who the boss is, he is not going to stop being "Biden" - and I absolutely love that!

I have a feeling the late night comics will have some fun with Biden.

8. The look on Obama's face was clearly not happy with the dig.
But what an incredible meeting he just held. What an incredible leader. Inspiring, encouraging, and confident, but at the same time, not willing to budge on his ideals and requests for those working for him.

These are some absolutely wonderful new changes for a first full day in office.

11. Obama must know ol' Joe has a foot-in-mouth problem
But he doesn't want to convey that the WH is in any way upset with the flub. My own opinion is that Roberts was caught up in the giddiness of the historic moment - and that it was an honest mistake. Obama seemed genuinely amused and forgiving of Roberts at the time. It's part of his character. Still, I love when the VP shoots off random stuff.

13. I may be wrong, but I felt Roberts got flubbed up, because he didn't want to say...
Barack Hussein Obama.

17. Naw...they had passed that point. He simply forgot the words
to the oath. "Hey, Roberts! Try index cards next time"

19. Nah
He said that part smoothly, and with sincere purpose and clarity. Most grown-ups, even right-wing justices, do not have a prejudice about his name (I leave that to idiot congressmen from East Bumfuck, Heartland). Keith Olbermann stated last night they learned that Roberts made the mistake of relying on memory to recite it, when justices usually have a copy on hand. Also, regardless of ideology, he would rather go down in history as the person who swore in the first African American president - not one who committed a "revenge" gaffe in front of billions of viewers worldwide. Ego trumps all.

I wouldn't be surprised if a substantial number of loons on this site blame Karl Rove for it. Seriously.

20. Well, I DO blame Rove -
you see, Rove printed up the oath that Roberts was supposed to read, and after seeing what Rove wrote Roberts decided he had to wing it...
