Instructor in trouble for Obama remark
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 02:17 PM by proud2Blib
WICHITA | An instructor at Wichita Technical Institute is on administrative leave after a student complained about remarks he made while watching Barack Obama's inauguration on television.

The student said she was so offended by the instructor's remarks Tuesday, that she walked out of the computer networking class. The woman, Danyeal Jackson, said the teacher gave a play-by-play mocking what Obama said in his inauguration address.

Jackson said the instructor questioned the intelligence of those who voted for Obama and asserted that the nation's first black president was elected "because of the color of his skin." She said one other student was upset by the remarks but that she was the only one to complain.

School officials say they are taking the complaint seriously, and that they train their instructors to keep politics out of the classroom.

21. Not hard for me to imagine.
I would say this is typical behavior for Republican teacher. These people are out of their minds. They don't believe Obama is an American citizen. They think he is the anti-Christ. Republicans have been effectively brainwashed.

4. You have to question the intelligence
of an Instructor who would foist their tunnel vision on a class viewing the Inauguration of a President.

The students are there and excited about the historic significance and having the teacher hatin' throughout demands someone with more authority looking into the matter.

5. Man, this instructor has it wrong. Obama was not elected because he's black.
Let's face it, Goerge W. Bush fucked up so bad that it allowed a black man with a middle name of Hussein be elected over the Republican, and he could ahve beat ANY Republican after lil' Georgie's fuckups.

Hell, Georgie can't even take a piss without wetting the front of his pants.

his being Black..mainly 'cause he was the smartest MoFo..

But, you really can't be a repuke, freeper, ect, ect if you don't have some disconnect to reality.

I love your new user name..so much more appropriate:P

11. Ahem...
Harvard Law grad. Didn't Bush also graduate from Harvard, but it was from the Business school, not the Law school. And Bush was a C student at said inferior school (business) whereas Obama graduated Magna Cum Laude from said superior school (law).

10. "...keep politics out of the classroom..."
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 03:10 PM by SoCalDem
and they watch the inauguration IN class? Doesn;t that INVITE politics into the classroom? ..just sayin'

EVERYONE has a "recording" device on their tvs these days, and if they were so caught up in it all, they have known since Nov 4th, when the event would be, and have had ample time to request the day off, to watch it with friends & family.

Unless it was Civics/Government/History, they should not have even watched it in class..

12. It was historic
We watched it at my school. Some schools had big parties. This is a HUGE deal to the African American community. I would imagine this instructor was told to turn it on by his administrators.

but think back to 1-20-01.. the same situation could have happened ..only reversed..

People who are "political", but operate in the public arena, should keep their feelings to themselves, or recuse themselves if they cannot..

of government/power. It is a cornerstone of our Representative Democracy.

Today, I subbed for a teacher whose class uses computers to do remedial work. He left the passwords for the students, but not the website they needed to log on to (and for some reason, he doesn't let them know how to get to that site).

I found an online video of the Inaugural Address and played it for all classes. We did not discuss the content or circumstances of the speech, but I felt it was important enough for them to see and hear at least a part of the procedings.

The school principal agreed with me.

(On edit: made a typo that does not fly well when one is in the education business.)
