Obama's Announcement to White House Staffers
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 03:20 PM by mandyky
I am not sure the media has caught onto all the meanings of the other executive orders President Obama made besides the pay freeze today. His order on the Freedom of Information Act was retroactive, meaning back to other administrations, meaning Karl Rove's shennanigans, Dick Cheney's meetings in question, etc. President Obama is giving ordinary citizen's investigative power.

I am totally in awe of this man! It feels so good not to cringe when I say "My President".

I am not a church goer, but I enjoyed going to church this morning, via CSpan with MY President and his wife and our government officials.

Hold onto your hats Democrats, and don't blink because you might miss the next wonderful thing our President says or does.

It feels great to feel proud again to be an American!

3. From an ethics standpoint...
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 03:46 PM by TTUBatfan2008
It certainly looks like he's going to walk the walk on the "change" he promised during the campaign. I had a problem with how so many people threw around the word "change" without ever defining it in specific terms. But it is clear from his first few executive orders that he did mean it when he said it, even if it did come off merely like a campaign slogan. It is very cool that he wants accountability, transparency, and a more open dialog with the public (change.gov, YouTube, etc.) than we've probably ever had in the White House.

I think he will be a very good President on many fronts, but ultimately he will be judged on how the economy fares under his watch. If it gets better, then people will pay more attention to the ethics issues that he's addressing, the fact that he's going to be more diplomatic in his foreign policy, the fact that he's going to be more diplomatic in Washington itself (huge change from the ultra partisan years of Clinton and Bush), and the fact that he's trying to restore the law of the land (the Constitution). But if the economy is in the shitter by the time he leaves office, I think people will overlook all the good things he does in other areas. So let's hope his policies on the economy can help the country get on the road to economic recovery.

9. I think that judging him by if he can undo 28 years of CONservative policies is asking too much
He has said he can not do it alone WE HAVE TO HELP.
The Congress has to send him the legislation to sign and the DOJ has to indict and prosecute the war criminals.

WE all have our part to do.

4. Good to see you again, mandy!
I never called bush anything but what he was..so saying President Obama is really new to me.

Government is interesting and not some source of pain because you know they're killing people and lying about EVERYTHING.
