From the looks of this forum
a lot of us go read rightwing websites or listen to hate radio or false noise, develop a massive case of mental worry hives over the coordinated bullshit distraction attack of the day, and then come here and post message after message regurgitating the coordinated bullshit distraction attack.

What is wrong with you all? It is bullshit. They want you to propagate it. They want you and me and all of us to do nothing except discuss their distraction and get into their frame and by doing so force the narrative through the twisted tunnel of their rightwing worldview.

Please stop.

But I think it might be more out of curiosity for most of us,.. just to see what those jugheads are talking about.. but some do seem to take it up as faith a little too quickly.. I am with you on that one

6. Most of the people who post freeper shit here aren't into policy
They just want to be "on a team," and politics gives them some team to be on. It's an embarrassment, to be sure.

24. Holy fucking shit
your psycho analysis is so ultra cool.

Wow... I hope you get paid for typing impressive bullshit - I love arm chair analysis like this. Let's see... I think (therefore I must really know what I am talking about here :eyes:) Maybe your name of choice says a lot more about your ability to change political affiliations with the wind and as a polarizing historical personality? Maybe I could make up some serious reasons as to why someone would want to use that name???? Or maybe you just like history and some of the military achievements of Alcibiades? Maybe I don't know shit about you and so maybe I should not assume anything and instead not make leaping, hurdles into the psychology behind anything YOU choose to do or not to do since I don't know fucking shit about YOU.

Really, I would think that sounding off about what you think you know about why some people do whatever they do on an internet message board would be able to back up their claims.

WTF do you know why someone posts something from FR or chooses not to? Perhaps you don't have a clue why but instead you simply make up shit ---

7. Good point
Personally, I never listen to Limbaugh, Ingraham, Savage or any of the talking assholes. I don't watch Fox or Joe either. I do regularly check the Fox website and Drudge, however, just to see what the other side is doing.

8. Some of us get the propaganda sent to us by insane loved ones.
Yesterday I received one such email from my sister. I had just walked into my office from a seven hour trip home from DC and that was the crap I opened in my email. I calmly emailed her back that she should not email me anymore and put her on ignore! I am done with these crazy people. I am sad, so sad to have to do this but I can not take it anymore. Peace, Kim

can't respect other family members opinions. I deal with that same problem. A couple people in my family are seriously misinformed, they print fake crap off the internet all the time. I can't even begin to understand it.

15. I have been able to tolerate it up until this point..
but now I realize that my family will be part of the problem going forward. When we say that people will have to help do the work to solve the problems of this nation we have to remember that there are a whole lot of well educated right wing ignorant fools who will not be part of the solution. Unbelievable. It really makes me angry to know that these folks will not help, no matter what, to find a solution to the problems that their ignorant fool * created. Selfish , greedy, ignorant fools. That is all.

10. I think you're are correct
I'm almost ashamed to admit, that prior to reading this thread, I was here at DU searching for links/articles to refute some bullshit thread at another forum I belong to.

You are correct, they are forcing a narrative, and I'm taking their bait. I can't spend four to eight years correcting out and out lies, but I hate that it all sits there in cyberspace as though it's the truth.

It kills me because I did my best in 2004 fighting the swiftboaters, but there are people who still believe all that bullshit.

I think for me, despite us winning this election, I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

11. This is the first time I ever got interested in politics
so I can't totally understand how hard it has been for some people having to deal with all the lies and hatred. I feel for you. Everytime I hear someone say things like "he is a muslim, anti-christ, etc" I just want to chop their heads off! But the more we get mad over it, the more they do it. I have a feeling it won't ever end. I am really happy to have found this forum with people that actually have brain cells.

13. People who still believe the Swiftboaters are probably
the same ones who still believe that Iraq had something to do with 9/11

And they probably also believe that the earth is flat, natural phenomenon such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunami, etc. are caused by "God's wrath", and man did not land on the moon in 1969.

One of the things I've learned in life is that you can't/shouldn't argue with fools and drunks. You'll lose every time and you'll have wasted a lot of your own time doing it.

Let 'em go on believing whatever they want until the nice men in the white coats come to pick them up...

;)

21. all true
I definitely stopped fighting with the swiftboaters long ago. This election was easier because we saw it coming, and the campaign had the tools in place to help combat them.

I may read some of this stuff at other places, but I'm not inclined to start threads about it. Heck, I lurked here off and on for over 4 years, and didn't sign up until after election day this year.

19. I think you may be missing the point.
You may not like to hear it, but if we just ignore it and pretend it isn't happening, then they get to spread bullshit freely. We need to be aware of their coordinated bullshit and have a coordinated response. That means knowing thy enemy. Frankly I'm glad people keep me up to date so I don't have to visit the right-wing propaganda mills myself.

22. nah you are falling for their trap
obviously Obama is president. Instead of discussing what the new administration is doing we are off defending against the absurd proposition that Obama is not actually president. Worse, there is at least one post expressing (p)outrage that the oath was redone, another expressing concern that executive orders issued are invalid. Yesterday this new administration started fulfilling campaign promises, started ending the culture of corruption, abolished torture as policy, started shutting down gitmo, started the planning for exiting Iraq, re-affirmed a commitment to full equality for all americans, abolished the gag order on abortion information, put all pending EO regulations on hold, and abolished the cabal's attempt to keep its documents under their control for perpetuity. Clinton was confirmed. And that was day one.

They don't want to talk about that. They want to change the narrative and talk about inane bullshit and we are oh so willing to play their game.

But I think most here are capable of both supporting our president and defending him from nonsensical attacks.

How long did we ignore right-wing radio? Where did it get us?

26. We must be aware of their false
claims. Then if these lies are repeated on the mainstream media they can be challenged. Allowing wild allegations to go unchallenged is dangerous. They must be watched at all times.

27. Some think of it as keeping tabs on the enemy
Also a lot of us have to live with right wingers, sometimes it helps to talk to other DUers to see what arguments can be used against them.

Then there's the entertainment value. Posts from Freeperville usually are only for that.

29. If I can take it (sometimes I couldn't in the Shrub years) I listen to a little Rush and look at FR
and I can't really say why?

To affirm my beliefs? To keep tabs on what wingers are up to? To laugh?

But I don't think I have once made a post about them.

I don't mind the OPs who post about them so that we can laugh and vent a little. Some DUers should have their own HBO specials, they are SO funny!

But what I don't like are the posts that are like "this scares me" or "help me debunk this, I'm worried" -- they are usually in regards to family or friends who send stuff out and it is clear these folks are total, utter, complete racists and bigots and are of the ilk who would not vote Democratic even if Sarah Palin ran on the ticket. I find them to be a little, uh....., can I say it? Subversive.

30. there is a certain satisfaction
I get from screaming at the top of my lungs at Rush, Sean, Mark, and arguing with them on their ridiculous opinions. I justify it by saying that if ever faced with a similar blowhard, I can rebut in the same fashion.

Then again I may just be a sick and twisted individual in need of counseling.

32. Well people have the right to read and post whatever they want
(within the rules/guidelines of this site), so I can't speak to that.

But personally, I think we should take the little complaints coming out from the "opposition" should make us feel good, not worrying...

Imagine if they had anything substantial to complain about? They don't! They're arguments (at least the ones I've picked up on) are ridiculous and irrelevent - they don't have anything else! Which is GREAT!

Limbaugh's words are more serious, I think, because he has some power in that he has such a loyal audience who fall in for his destructive, evil propaganda, and I find that disturbing.

But even his arguments are "creative" at best - he has no valid argument against Obama or this Admin, either. And I truly believe Obama won't give them something to really have a legitimate scandal to freak out about.

That's my take on it, anyway...
