OMFG. Faux News saying Obama's orders signed yesterday aren't valid.
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 07:37 PM by sparosnare
Since he re-took the oath last night, he needs to re-sign his executive orders. Taking the oath again invalidated the first time so essentially, he wasn't president until last night.

:silly:

What a bunch of pathetic losers.

I'm just wondering how long their tired old tactics are going to remain popular. After reading that Obama has a 62% approval rating here in Texas, I'd say not long.

1. This is just going to be fucken continuous, isn't it?
Birth certificate, yada yada, oath yada yada. You could keep one of those droolers amused for days with a little coin that has both sides labelled "Turn me over."

11. Yes. Bingo. Every single day there will be an "issue". It's what the RW does:
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 07:33 PM by WinkyDink
the Panama Canal return; Terri Schiavo; the 2 Oaths---it's always something, and it's always nothing.

It's their tactic to stay in and control the news. And the media oblige. After all, the Great Maw of 24/7 TV must be fed.

45. Most anything Fox says nowadays is usually Anti-American
Just goes to show what foreign owned companies like to do when they think it's their privilege

It's not nationalism when you come to the defense of your country, it's just common sense:argh:

He became president at noon on Tuesday, BEFORE all the fol-
de-rol with Roberts ... Why oh why did we ever stop teaching
Civics in the schools?

21. That's simply not true.
From Article II Section 1 of the US Constitution:

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

It is a requirement of office. If it were not, President Obama wouldn't have had the oath re-administered later that evening.

34. I think "shall" pretty much means "must" in legaleze....
Otherwise, half The Constitution and laws in this country would be optional. Furthermore, the "before" wording is pretty explicit in that it has to be done before he executes his office.

The question is: Is the oath still valid if it was jumbled? I think one could make that argument.

Freeper conspiracies aside, I find this rather amusing mental masturbation and/or jail-house lawyering.

32. Your interpretation is interesting.
Many past presidents never even uttered the words, simply said "I do". Obama took the oath again to make all the idiots shut their traps.

23. Does the Fox snub on the Iraq trip explain all this ridiculousness?
This is all a petty vendetta, and Chris Wallace is right in the middle of it... Remember this
Stephen Colbert looks at the media maelstrom surrounding Barack Obama's trip to the Middle East and how there is one particular media outlet who doesn't seem to be involved. Hmmm....which one could it be?

COLBERT: You see, in recent months, McCain boxed Obama into a corner by saying it was important that Obama visit Iraq. Checkmate. No way out of that one. But now Obama is cheating, by visiting Iraq. The good news is there's so much media attention, there's always a possibility of a huge gaffe doing irreparable damage to his campaign. <..>
Now I was not invited on this trip. But, that's fine. But I am not the only one who was snubbed.

If an invalid establishment calls a President invalid, isn't that an invalid statement from the invalid establishment?

I think Obama should declare Faux invalid as a "news" establishment. Or whatever ya wanna call it.
