A funny Freeper skirmish at the airport while returning home from the Inauguration
I'll be posting photos and some video of my experiences at the Inauguration shortly, but I just had to comment on this hilarious event at the Philadelphia airport flying to St. Louis (and then to Madison) while waiting to board the plane.

I had picked up a copy of Chuck Todd's "How Barack Obama Won" at the airport and was reading it when I overheard some guy mutter to his buddy "Obama won because some people don't love America... did you hear that mother f&*ker is closing Gitmo? We're gonna get attacked again in a year..."

I put the book down and looked at the guy and started laughing. I then picked up the book and pointed to the cover and gave the thumbs up.

It drove the guy nuts.

I figured he was as clueless as a doormat, so I was ready for him to start something. He yelled "you people are stupid!" at me. I was seated next to a couple people who then told him to shut up. One guy, who looked like he might have been a Republican" said "listen, pal he's our President ...get over it!"

The guy got up quickly and walked away muttering to himself and waving his arms.

"Do you believe some of these idiots", the guy who chastised the Freeper said to me. We just laughed it off.

When I got on the plane later, the Freeper guy was seated near the front and just stared at me like he wanted to hit me when I walked by. I made sure to have my laptop bag smack against his arm, which was in the way.

It made reading the book later all the more enjoyable.

If interested in the book:

5. The book is pretty cool and a fast read...
...as well as will make for a great reference for races in 2010/2012 and beyond. I'd recommend it if you want to analyze how different states voted and the boiled down analysis of the whole race is well done.

4. I'd really like to ask him just what makes him more American than us.
or just what he contributes to this great nation other than paranoid cockknockery.

6. Funny Story
I have my own.

I am a black guy who works for the Feds. Almost all of my coworkers are democrats. We have been estatic since the election. We have one super freeper woman in our unit. She is 65 and seriously stuck in the 50's. Sometimes I have to travel with her, and that is a whole other story all together. Anyways, since the election she does not eat lunch with us much and when she does, she gets up and goes to her desk whenever we start talking about Obama. She did not show up to work on tuesday and left work early yesturday. We can tell she is pissed. I had to deal with her a couple of times today and she was ultra snarky with me. I asked her to do something for me (she is a higher grade but not my superior)and she said something really catty (she still did it). She is old and about to retire, so I let these things slide. I think with her, I am dealing with Obama backlash. I am pretty young and she told me straight up that I am too young and new in the agency to be in my current position. She probably thinks I am an affirmitive action case. Little does she know, I got in the way her peeps usually gets their jobs/promotion. I knew the boss, ha ha!

9. Obama won because some people don't love America
"Some?"

How about most?

My story:

My unmarried, and unemployed neighbor with an 8 year old son loves AK, told me that he was going to vote for McCain and Palin last fall. I had to tell him that since he is a 57 year old who has a sketchy lifetime employment history, currently lives in a condo that was purchased by his mother, and drives a old truck that was purchased by his late father, is surviving on welfare, food assistance, SSI, and Medicaid, that he was essentially going to vote to have his "entitlements" drastically reduced or perhaps taken away completely.

He is ground zero of the type of people conservatives despise the most.

10. There was a show on MTV2 Not long ago called "Wondershowzen"
I'm not exactly the MTV2 type but I saw the show's episode called "Horse Apples". A modern day lampooning of "Hee Haw."

There was one guy who reminded me of most rural-lower-income guys who vote Republican that I grew up around. It was only aa 5 second skit.

A steriotypical "Redneck" type standing in a cornfield saying "I vote against mah own self interests! A-hyuk, A-hyuk." Growing up and knowing guys like that barely eke by but with the help of their families if that...
