Do you want to know why Roberts MIGHT have flubbed it on purpose? |
|
I'm not saying he did or didn't flub it on purpose, but consider this:
8 years ago, we all knew Bush would be bad, but did any of us ever imagine that he would have ended up being THIS BAD?
4 years ago, could any of us have ever come up with the notion that the Vice President of the United States would shoot a friend of his in the face when the guy didn't even look like a bird?
1 year ago, did any of us ever foresee that someone so incredibly stupid, so juvenile, so inexperienced, so fucking annoying as Sarah Palin would ever be asked by John McCain to run for Vice President of the United States?
It just goes to show that when it comes to Republicans, ANYTHING is possible!

1. If Barack Obama were here..... |
|
... he would purse his lips and slap you on the arm softly as if to say, "move on with it Joe." :)

5. That's if I was lucky. More than likely he'd |

slap me so hard that my lips would beat the ambulance to the hospital. :smoke:

7. No no no..... he's not a violent man.... |
|
... have you learned nothing?
Instead ... you'd get a look of his complete and utter dissapointment in you.
A fate worse than death.

3. I'm going with the story reported by NYT |
|
.. it was due to Robert's anal grasp of the English language, and he insisted on rewriting it on the fly. Did you see that piece?

16. That explanation, believe it or not, makes the most sense to me as well. |
|
I've known quite a few people, English teachers mostly, who were incredibly anal about the language. I am myself, to a degree. It can be very difficult sometimes to keep yourself from changing something that you find to be grammatically incorrect - it's quite easy to do without realizing that you're doing it.

It also said that Obama smiled when he HEARD what Roberts had done. He caught it right away, being the word smith he is.

4. It was decent of Obama to let him administer the oath of office even |
|
though his legitimacy as head Supreme could be in doubt. It seems Obama extended the olive branch, but if they want to be assholes, let the games begin.

There's also no chance of GOP heads exploding playing it over and over on tv.
Yet, I think Roberts did not intentionally flub it.

10. Not only that, but has anyone discussed how Warren's unusually long prayer |
|
cause President Obama to be sworn in late? His prayer was like 5 or 6 minutes long when it should have been 1 to 2 minutes tops! Double freep attempts at sabotage!

11. If he were a third grader, I might consider that he did this on purpose. |

Otherwise, I find the idea really pretty incredible (in the most literal sense of that word).

12. What a comparison, lol? Did you stop to think that he was facing |
|
a black american and he fumbled the words? I am pretty sure it was not intentional, he just fucked up the words!
That is my take ... it was not intentional, he just couldn't look a black guy in the eye and repeat the Oath!
Flame away!

17. A more apparent moment of race-on-race news event awkwardness was Romney-Patrick |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-23-09 09:10 AM by beat tk
Not sure if it would really be an issue for Roberts... he works with a black dude. Romney however, yikes. When he ceremonially handed off the governorship to Patrick, Romney's smile reminded me that when monkeys bare their teeth, it can express either a social "smile" or imminent danger. Patrick was, of course, rubbing it in as much as he could.

but most Americans voted for him in 2004! How that asshole got two terms is beyond me.
Can you please explain that?

If Bush could possibly get a second term, then anything is possible, including Roberts flubbing it on purpose....not that he did. ;)

18. Never forget that Roberts was behind the scenes |
|
during the 2000 FL recount. A Federalist Society member. An arrogant corporate shill. I think "the flub" represents a standard RethugliKKKlan mindset. "I don't need no steenkin' cue card!" Just like the other three hard-line SCJ's, he's an asshole through and through. Two-thirds of the Senate can impeach the assholes...IIRC. Bring it on! :puke:
