Senate Republicans’ ‘Temporary and Targeted’ Tax Cuts Are Permanently Targeted To The Wealthy:

Senate Conservatives Propose $3.1 Trillion ‘Stimulus Plan,’ Three Times More Costly Than Obama’s Plan:

The DeMint plan includes permanently cutting the corporate tax rate, totally eliminating the Alternative Minimum Tax, lowering income tax rates for the wealthiest Americans, and eliminating scores of tax deductions that help students pay for college, sick families pay medical bills, and teachers purchase supplies for their classrooms.

5. Tax cuts for the middle class (those making less than six figures) stimulate the economy
Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 04:02 PM by 4lbs
because the middle class often take that extra money and spend it.

Tax cuts for the wealthy rarely do as much, because wealthy people tend to just stash the extra money in offshore accounts, accumulating interest, but not doing anything to consume goods in America.

18. Agreed
This spread of data on the Republican plan has to be spread everywhere and talked about on every channel. Anytime a republican whines about all the small programs that are being funded by the democratic plan that WILL result in fixing infrastructure and helping create jobs, we have to fire back with the republican budget to aid the wealthy.

19. Maybe 'cause it is?
Yup, cut social services and cut the hell out of taxes. The Friedmanite-chicago school still buys this nonsense.

7. And that's going to help how?
The GOP needs to be tarred, feathered and run out on a rail.

8. Is there any way to charge these ass-hats with TREASON????
Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 04:08 PM by Moostache
WHY, in the name of all that is good and decent do we allow these people to even get NEAR the levers of power?!??!?!

If these estimates are even close to accurate, then the entire GOP caucus should be impeached for being complicit in the destruction of America from within the halls of power.

I have seen some BAD ideas lately and many that I disagree with completely, but this is the worst idea I have EVER seen and its not even close....sweet Jesus, my freaking 3-year old daughter can come up with better ideas and she barely understands the concept of money yet!

Cut taxes for the wealthy. Cut taxes for the wealthy. Cut taxes for the wealthy.

Let's cut taxes for the wealthy AGAIN, because it's worked so well over the last 8 years! Look at all the jobs those tax cuts have created (over in India). Look at all the additional disposable income the wealthy have to trickle down (to their kids). Yeah, it's worked so well, that's why we have such a robust economy today.

The GOP is a one hit wonder. They don't understand anything except for cut taxes for the wealthy, hate them homos, and make women have babies, regardless of why they're pregnant. :eyes:

10. this is what's know as a "free shot".
the senators are shoring up their "conservative", pro-rich tax-cutting credentials before hitting up donors for money. the KNOW they have ZERO chance of passing, so they propose their biggest donors' wildest wet dreams.

they are not playing to the public, they are not even playing to their own state. they are playing to the players, the wealthy donors.

later, once they've got more money in the re-election coffers, they will become more populist and/or actually negotiate with democrats and obama.

right now, it's just for show, and you and i are not the intended audience.

11. Those cuts have never, ever helped!
And they want to do them again!! Isn't that the sign of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results?

12. So the Republican's stimulus plan's name is, what, the "Take the Money and Run!" plan?
Ultra-concentration of wealth at the top, the non-national class, and turn the rest of America into Cuba circa 1948?

Where the hell is our "stand up and not take crap from anyone" president? This flies in the face of every promise he made us. I sure hope he does everything he can to stop this sham of a bill and return it to the original idea.
