Earth to Republicans: for people to get tax cuts |
|
in their paychecks they first have to have paychecks. They have to have jobs. Earlier on CNN someone calculated that about 11 million people are now out of a job.

1. I know people who have been out of work a long time |

And because they didn't file income tax (no income) they also DID NOT receive the last stimulus check. I'm assuming if there is to be another, the same thing will happen.
Edited to say... yes. Nothing from nothing is nothing. You can't cut what doesn't exist.

2. Remember, ReRushicans believe that the poor and middle class don't pay taxes ... |
|
thus, how do they get "tax relief" if, in the ReRushicans' view, they don't pay any taxes?
(n percent of pay 50 percent of the taxes ... according to one of their most cherished myths ...)

3. Our last "stimulus" tax rebate check |
|
We never saw our last "stimulus" tax rebate check, and I expect we won't see this one either. It went straight to our installment payment with the IRS. At this rate, the government will finish paying off that debt for us....

4. Sorry to hear about this |

I think that Jon Stewart has a point when he suggests that the money should go to us and we can give it to the banks - when we pay our consumer debts.

5. Loved that interview with Lawrence Lindsey |
|
He didn't seem like too much of a douchebag for a Repuke- a former Bush (mis-)administration official at that. It's too bad Obama and the Dems don't have enough Republicans in Congress like him to negotiate with. I may be mistaken but didn't he get the axe when he (inconveniently albeit truthfully) projected a pretty significant price tag for our invasion/occupation of Iraq?

Want tax cuts, not just because they think doing so will create jobs (they won't) but primarily because it will help steer the government in the direction of cutting spending on socialist "entitlement" programs, in order to make up for the lost revenue. Tax cuts are also worthless to lower income workers. Two thirds of businesses, both foreign and domestic, paid no taxes during the Shrub administration anyway. Small businesses and the middle class bore the brunt of the US tax burden.
